Really? Is that the best you can do?
MSNBC’s Joy Reid and her guests took turns mocking Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke for his practice of wearing his uniform when making appearances.
One guest described him as “all hat and no cattle.”
Reid gathered guests Wisconsin state Sen. Lena Taylor and former talk radio host Charlie Sykes on her show Sunday night to yuk it up and make fun of the popular conservative lawman.
Taylor, a Democrat, said she hoped that Clarke will remain in the primary race because he would be an easy win.
Although conservative, Clarke is a registered Democrat, and his re-election bid has attracted a primary opponent.
“It’s going to be such a fun primary seeing us make him lose for the first time,” she claimed. “I believe that with everything I have.”
In addition to his uniform, they took issue with his support for President Donald Trump.
“I’m sure he would like to keep wearing that uniform as a prop when he goes on Fox News,” Sykes put in. “It’s about the only time we ever see him around here. I mean, he is AWOL. He’s basically bailed on Milwaukee.”
Currently there’s an effort to draft Clarke to run for the U.S. Senate in 2018.
“He’s really transformed himself into this mini-Trump wannabe. And that’s his career trajectory,” Sykes added.
A former Clarke supporter, Sykes referred typo him as “my Frankenstein monster” who has “be-clowned himself.”
Before his Sunday MSNBC appearance, Sykes has been generally thought of as leaning to the right. Perhaps that should be changed to allegedly leaning to the right.
“I’m so glad to hear that Charlie Sykes and I agree,” Taylor laughed. “David Clarke is all hat and no cattle.”
The derision continued on social media, but Clarke’s fans came out in full support to counter the mockery.
