Nancy Pelosi took a shot at President Donald Trump on Wednesday calling him “insecure”in his election win.
“For a person who is a newly elected president of the United States to be so insecure as to declare… ‘I’ve won the popular vote, three to five million Americans voted illegally,’ to suggest and undermine the integrity of our voting system is really strange,” the House minority leader said.
This coming from a representative of the party that pushed for recounts and blamed Russia for the president’s victory.
Pelosi argued that President Trump’s attorneys said their was no evidence of voter fraud when recounts were called for.
“I frankly feel very sad about the president making this claim. I felt sorry for him,” she said. “I even prayed for him, but then I prayed for the United States of America.”
Pelosi’s prayer for President Trump is another statement in a week that has seen a more religious House minority leader.
Days ago the California representative insisted that while people of faith tend to vote Republican, it is the Democrats that are “doing the Lord’s work.”
Pelosi is referring to the president’s call for an investigation into illegal voting by non-citizens. Something for which a study suggests might be as high as 2.8 million illegal votes.
