When the Obamas leave their 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue address on January 20, they won’t have far to go. They’ll be moving into an eight bedroom, 8,200 square foot home in the exclusive Kalorama neighborhood of Washington, D.C.

They’ll be renting the $5.3 million estate ostensibly so that 15-year-old Sasha can continue her studies at the Sidwell Friends School through to her graduation.

Meanwhile, renovations and security upgrades are underway so that the property will be ready for them next month.

TMZ reported that in addition top upgrading the security system, the electrical system will also be beefed up. It also reported that according to construction permits taken out on the property, the garage will be converted into President Obama’s private office.

Although the Obamas say the property is being rented so that daughter Sasha can continue at her same school, some might conclude that there’s another purpose at foot — to keep an eye on Obama’s successor.

They just can’t leave Washington alone.
