The European refugee crisis may be even worse than expected.
In an alarming report by the European Union’s (EU) border patrol agency, agents admitted that Islamic terrorists are infiltrating countries in Europe through the refugee system, according to the Daily Mail.
The report warned that the terrorist attacks in Paris are proof that jihadists are entering the EU using the lax immigration system that’s in place.
“The Paris attacks in November 2015 clearly demonstrated that irregular migratory flows could be used by terrorists to enter the EU,” the report stated. “With no thorough check or penalties in place for those making false declarations, there is a risk that some persons representing a security threat to the EU may be taking advantage of this situation.”
Officials also said that while there were a recorded 1.82 million illegal crossings into the EU back in 2015, there is no way to know how many illegal migrants are now in the EU because they are no longer tracked.
Even more alarming, border agents explained how a “staggering” number of European citizens had recently become radicalized in the name of jihad.
“The staggering number of EU citizens who joined the (Syrian) conflict as jihadists has resulted in a number of returnees opting to use irregular means of travelling,” stated the report.
