Video catches harrowing moment helicopter crashes in Pearl Harbor; teen critically injured

A family of four was on board a helicopter when it plummeted into Pearl Harbor leaving one critically injured.

The crash was caught on video by tourist Shawn Winrich who was taking pictures, but who switched to video as he saw the chopper descending rapidly, according to the Associated Press.

“All of a sudden it essentially just fell out of the sky and crash-landed in the water,” he told the AP.

That’s when he and other bystanders jumped in the water to try to help.

One of them, Daniel Rose, told ABC News that one person stayed under water for about three minutes.

“That was scary,” he said. “We were thinking we were going to see a dead body come up.”

According to the AP, a 16-year-old is in critical condition after good Samaritans had to cut him from his seat belt to pull him out.

Two other family members were in stable condition and another was treated and released.
