Democrats are really not happy about President Trump’s decision on Jerusalem.
Chief among the offended is Democratic National Committee vice chairman, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN)–who called the President’s plan to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital a “horrible tragedy.”
“I believe in a two state solution, an Israeli state and a Palestinian state side-by-side in peace and security,” Ellison said. “And so issues of where the capital will be has always been something that is going to be negotiated in the course of a peace agreement between Israelis and Palestinians.”
Ellison went on to claim moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will make it more difficult to negotiate peace between Israel and Palestine.
“This unilateral departure from that is really upsetting. You know, the idea that we’re going to have a negotiated settlement. It is simply something that’ll delay peace. It’ll make it much more difficult to obtain peace in the Middle East. And it is again another dramatic departure from diplomacy, from negotiated settlements. It’s just Trump, you know, stomping all over what we’ve been trying to do as a nation to foster a negotiated two-state solution for many, many years. So it’s really a horrible tragedy.”
Palestine and Israel have been in conflict for decades even without the recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.
Ellison has been seen as a polarizing figure in the Democratic party. The Muslim congressman’s stance on Israel provoked opposition to his bid for DNC chair earlier this year, particularly from prominent Jewish Democrats like Alan Dershowitz.
Dershowitz, in fact, praised President Trump on the issue of Jerusalem.

The left’s support of Islam is creating a divide between pro-Israel and pro-Palestine Democrats.
The White House said it will take several years to complete the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem.
Conservatives cheered the news that the Trump administration will recognize Israel’s historic and traditional capital city.
If Ellison thinks it’s a huge mistake then Trump is making the right decision!

“what we have been doing for many many years”…
Apparently that isn’t working

For 3 decades every president has spoken about doing this. Now trump has the balls to do it! Look at a historical map. IT BELONGS TO ISRAEL!!

President Trump keeps another campaign promise… The world will get over it! This is the way it should always have been… I’ve been in Israel and the two state solution is nonsense.

It’s OUR embassy, we can put it where we choose. Since GHW Bush, presidents have kowtowed to Saudi Arabia, I’m frankly sick of it. I admire @POTUS for keeping his word. Courage under fire is an admirable trait. Thank you President Trump.

To me, this is the most telling expression yet from Trump that he is going to keep his campaign promises. I’ve said from Day One, if he keeps his promises from the campaign, noone will beat him in 2020. Agree or disagree with him, but don’t call him a lying politican
