Trump team drafts new travel ban 2.0, executive order on its way

In an effort to make his travel ban more legally bulletproof President Donald Trump’s new travel ban will affect the same seven nations, with one exception.

Those who have a visa to travel to the United States, even if it has not been used, will be exempted, Fox News reported.

The new travel ban will still affect travelers from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Sudan and Libya and is likely to be announced this week.

Green card holders and dual citizens are exempt from the new ban and Syrian refugees will no longer be singled out, according to an official who spoke with Fox News on the condition on anonymity,

But the flow of Syrian refugees ought to slow considerably as, even after they held up the president’s travel ban, courts did not touch his cap on accepting only 50,000 refugees in 2017.

The United States has already accepted 35,000 Syrian refugees in 2017, which leaves only 15,000 spots for Syrian refugees.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the draft of the ban that has been circulating is not final and that the final executive order is coming soon.
