Secret Service agent on Vance’s security detail put on leave over alleged leaks to the press

A disturbing new CNN report claims that a Secret Service agent from Vice President J.D. Vance’s security detail has been put on administrative leave over suspected leaks to the press.

“A member of the Vice Presidential Protective Division is the subject of an administrative investigation and potential criminal inquiry, involving allegations of compromising operational and information security,” Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement, confirming CNN’s report.

“While we will not comment on the specifics of this matter, one principle is unequivocal: any conduct that undermines the trust and confidence between a protectee and their protective detail is fundamentally incompatible with our mission and will not be tolerated.”

The Secret Service employee awaits an investigation and is suspected of being the source of a recent MSNOW story claiming the VP’s security team is overburdened by Vance’s personal travel schedule, CNN reported.

The White House fumed at the time of the report’s release, calling the leaks of Vance’s personal movements “treasonous.”

A former Secret Service agent told CNN that the leak was “negligence at the highest degree.”

“You telegraphed movement of two protectees, one of which is a minor, and it puts them in the spotlight. The whole purpose is to keep them out of the spotlight,” he said.

Meanwhile, many X users believe the Trump administration will throw the full weight of the law at the suspected agent if convicted.

“The Trump admin has made clear it views leaks as a prosecutable offense, and the leakers appear to be the ones closest to those they are supposed to protect,” Mario Nawfal said on X.
