Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith doubled down on his call to ban the Muslim call to prayer from being blasted out over loudspeakers five times a day, refusing to buckle to critics spewing outrage.

The Hoosier State Republican made his controversial comments during an appearance on the “Conservative Review” podcast last month, where he and host Daniel Horowitz discussed Islam, which they agreed was a “dangerous” ideology when the topic turned to the blaring of the Adhan, which reminds believers that it’s time to hit their knees to worship Allah.

Beckwith told the host that “we should ban the call to prayer, public calls to prayer.”

“If you’re a mosque and you want to have a loudspeaker and you want to start pumping these out five times a day locally, the state can say, ‘You’re not going to do that,'” the lieutenant governor said. “We’re not allowing that. We’re not going to let you put these words of death and destruction throughout the city streets in any of our cities.”

“The Constitution guarantees religious liberty for every American, not government preference for one faith over another,” the statement reads. “Public officials should be defending the constitutional rights of all Americans — not promoting religious hierarchy or vilifying minority faith communities,” the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said in a statement, one of the advocacy groups that denounced the remarks.

But despite the uproar, Beckwith is sticking by his guns

“Just to save time, here’s my official response: Yes, I 100% want to ban mosques in America from blaring the Muslim call to prayer through loudspeakers 5 times a day across our cities. Hope this clarifies everything and have a great weekend!” Beckwith added.

Do Muslims not know how to operate an alarm clock? We shouldn’t be forced to have to listen to noise pollution because Muslims need to know when to pray. They also can pray in their mosque and not block our roads. That should be banned as well. They can’t even tolerate church 🔔.

Enforce nuisance laws. We can’t blare a bullhorn at 5am (or any time), so neither should the call to prayer be blasted throughout the day. If you don’t enforce it the problem will steadily get worse.

Why don’t they use an app instead of blaring their words of intimidation throughtout neighborhoods where many do not need to hear it. Maybe an app is too 21st century for them.

Beckwith previously triggered critics by confessing that he hates Islam, branding it as a “demonic death cult” and urging Muslims to convert to Christianity.
