Scott Wiener votes against bill banning registered sex offenders from elected office

California Dem Scott Weiner is doubling down on dangerous policy after taking not-so-friendly fire from his own rabid base.

Wiener, an anti-ICE Senator who’s fought against parental rights (among other radical things), has come under furious fire from his leftist base for not being anti-Israel enough.

In recent days, his constituents have publicly humiliated him, forcing him to flee a trans rights march, and ridiculously labeled him a “center-right shill.”

Fast forward a few days, and Weiner is still at it, and voted against a bill that would ban registered sex offenders from holding public office.

California bill aimed at preventing registered sex offenders from holding local elected office was halted Tuesday after a Senate committee declined to advance the measure without changes opposed by its author.

Assembly Bill 2753, introduced by Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria in February, would have prohibited anyone who is or has been required to register as a sex offender from running for local elective office…

According to Soria, committee members proposed limiting the bill to Tier 3 offenders. She rejected those amendments, arguing that the legislation should apply more broadly.

“For this not to be the law today, where we’re banning people that have committed some of the most horrific crimes against children, against other people, you know, and we have survivors out there, I think it’s a disservice,” Soria said.

As for Wiener? He might be hoping to win back some goodwill from his base.

Creating loopholes for sex offenders is Wiener’s wheelhouse! His #SB145 ended automatic sex-offender registration for adults CONVICTED of sex crimes with minors, where child is age 14+ and the perp no more than 10 years older. Leniency for predators: It’s the Wiener Way!

What an ignorant statement.
“Minor crimes?” They’re crimes against MINORS, for the most part. And those persons who commit those crimes don’t deserve to represent the public in office.
