Mamdani-backed Dem House hopeful led anti-Israel, anti-Western civilization group

One of the three Democratic primary winners endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is a full-blown extremist whose resume should send a chill up the spines of normal voters.

Mamdani had a big night on Tuesday, solidifying his status as a power broker when the trio of candidates backed by the “communist lunatic” clobbered their establishment-friendly opponents, ousting two sitting members of Congress, including Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), despite the backing of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

One of the likely future House members, Darializa Avila Chevalier, is a committed anti-Israel fanatic who reportedly co-founded a group that sought to bully Columbia University into cutting financial ties with the Jewish state and once proclaimed that it was “fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization.”

The New York Post cites multiple reports in its expose of the 32-year-old Democratic Socialist who “joined Students for Justice in Palestine in 2014 after a summer internship in the West Bank city of Nablus, co-founded Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), a campaign aimed at coercing the Ivy League school to cut financial ties with Israel.”

The group was a key player in the 2024 anti-Israel protests at the Ivy League school that put up a tent encampment in a disruptive protest over the war with the Hamas terror organization in Gaza, with a keffiyeh-clad Chevalier describing the left-wing miscreants as “beautiful” while also wearing a t-shirt with the name of the group, which would be banned by the university, written on it.

“I’ve done a lot of community organizing, but when students were asking for support, I’m still connected with the alumni network, so I’m very happy to support anytime they need me,” the Columbia graduate told a reporter for the Associated Press at the time.

Chevalier defeated 13th congressional district incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), who also had the backing of Jeffries. An organizer and first-time candidate, she came out of nowhere to shock the establishment candidate, just like Mamdani did.

According to the New York Post, CUAD announced its intent in a mini-manifesto posted to Instagram.

“We are Westerners fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization. We stand in full solidarity with every movement for liberation in the Global South. Our Intifada is an internationalist one — we are fighting for nothing less than the liberation of all people,” the since-deleted post read, adding “We reject every genocidal, eugenicist regime that seeks to undermine the personhood of the colonized.”

“As the fascism ingrained in the American consciousness becomes ever more explicit and irrefutable, we seek community and instruction from militants in the Global South, who have been on the frontlines in the fight against tyranny and domination which undergird the imperialist world order,” the crazed screed reportedly said.

She has also railed against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which she once claimed was “created in a period of deep Islamophobia.”

“Where is our congressman when ICE is kidnapping his constituents? Why should we let Adriano Espaillat vote to spend billions on bombs overseas when we’re struggling to afford rent and groceries right here in New York City?” Chevalier said in a campaign video, attacking her now vanquished opponent.

Chevalier is pledging to abolish ICE, one of the agenda items on her campaign website.

A fire-breathing campus radical in Congress? What could possibly go wrong?
