A demented New York black woman full of antisemitic hate reportedly assaulted an Orthodox Jewish woman on the subway on Sunday.
Suspect Diana Smith, a Bronx resident, began her assault by yelling out “vicious remarks against Jews” during a Lower Manhattan subway ride, according to the New York Post.
The attack, which started around 2:15 pm that afternoon, escalated to an actual assault when Smith attacked a 23-year-old Upper West Side Jewish woman.
“I was a ragdoll, and I couldn’t defend myself — there should have been a human barricade around me,” the unnamed victim told the Post. “No one stepped up until it was too late.”

The victim, a nurse, told the Post that she was riding the subway when Smith jumped on board and started hassling a random couple “about the dangers of Jews stealing wealth.”
“You could always see the reflection of a Jew,” Smith later told another couple.
Shortly thereafter, Smith set her sights on her victim.
“And then she turned towards me, like very targeted, stared me down, and smiled with this very eerie smile that I’ll never forget,” the victim recalled.
“I decided in that moment I really did not want to show fear in the face of that, so I stared at her right back down, and I said, ‘So you see my reflection?’ and she said, ‘Yeah, and I smell it on you too,’” she added.
“Jews are eating kids!” Smith reportedly fired back before placing a hand on the victim’s throat.
“It’s OK for Jews to eat kids, but I can’t choke her down?” she asked as several bystanders reportedly tried to defuse the situation.
According to the Post, the victim’s phone was then knocked to the floor, and Smith wrapped her hands around the victim’s throat, “kicking and shoving her to the floor.” In the process, Smith pulled on the victim’s hair so hard that a clump of it was ripped out.

Once the subway reached the next stop, the victim reportedly jumped out of the car to search for cops while another rider hit the car’s emergency button. Smith was arrested shortly thereafter.
“When I had to identify her, a ton of people were like, ‘Oh, we saw what happened, are you OK?’ And that was extremely triggering for me, because of course I’m not OK,” the victim recalled. “I kept just thinking, ‘I’m not in Nazi Germany.’”
“How is this happening, and how is it that you saw what happened, and just were a bystander?” she continued, adding that she’d suffered a concussion from the attack.
Smith now faces charges of hate crime assault, hate crime criminal obstruction of breathing, and aggravated harassment, according to the Post.
“She’s pure evil, but she was lucid enough to know I was Jewish,” the victim pointed out.
The victim also took a shot at New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who was a noticeable no-show during the Israel Day Parade that occurred in Manhattan the very same day of the attack.
“I don’t think New York is protecting Jews,” the victim said. “I don’t think Mamdani not going to the Israel Day Parade is helping.”
Mayor Zohran Mamdani defends his decision to skip the Israel Day Parade, making him the first New York City mayor to bypass the historic event since 1964.

All this comes amid a new report published by the New York Police Department (NYPD) on Wednesday, revealing that antisemitic hate crimes in Mamdani’s NYC were up 71 percent this May compared to May of 2025.
“[H]ate crimes targeting Jews made up 60% of all hate crimes in the city last month,” The Jerusalem Post reported. “The number of reported antisemitic hate crimes was 60, 61% of the total number of reported (unconfirmed) hate crimes.”
“So far in 2026, there have been 152 confirmed antisemitic hate crimes. There have been 17 confirmed hate crimes against Muslims, 9 against Asian people, and 18 against Black people,” the reporting continued.
