‘Shame’: City of Houston forced to delete post calling Good Friday a ‘Spring Holiday’

Houston, Texas, is in hot water after an X post marked Good Friday as a “Spring holiday.”

In a quickly deleted message, the City of Houston announced that its offices would be closed on Friday “due to the Spring holiday weekend.” This outraged Christians, who viewed it as a blatant form of religious erasure. It was especially rich, critics noticed, considering the same account had no issue with celebrating Eid Mubarak two years ago.

Rep. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, had no problem calling out the account.

Today is Good Friday. Sunday is Easter.

It isn’t a “Spring holiday weekend.”

It’s a time when Christians across the nation reflect on the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“Today is Good Friday. Sunday is Easter. It isn’t a ‘Spring holiday weekend.’ It’s a time when Christians across the nation reflect on the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The City of Houston should be ashamed,” he wrote in a post of his own.

Congressional hopeful Jace Yarbrough also chimed in to share his disapproval.

“The City of [Houston] can delete tweets all it wants, but the mask is already off. No American, and especially no Texan, should be forced to fund a government that promotes Muslim holidays but ignores Christian ones. The days of praising every other culture but our own are over. This is a Christian nation. Our heritage is Christian. Our values are Christian. Our King is Christ. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless us as we fast and pray on this Good Friday,” he declared.

X user Amuse chalked the incident up to the “Islamification” of the city.
