A man bleeding from his head was arrested in Miami along with his travel companion after he refused to get off an American Airlines flight.
Flight attendants noticed that Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier, 27, was bleeding from his head and asked him to clean up the blood and replace his bandages, according to WPLG Local10. When Hernandez-Garnier explained that he did not have any clean bandages crew members asked him to deboard the flight, being concerned about his medical condition and possible body fluid contamination.
Hernandez-Garnier and his companion, Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, 32, reportedly refused to get off the American Airlines flight to Las Vegas, where they are both from.
The arrest report said they said, “If they could not fly, no one else can either.”
When police intervened and again asked Hernandez-Garnier and Loyola to leave, they continued to refuse the request, with Loyola yelling in a video she posted on TikTok that Hernandez-Garnier had just had surgery.
“After a brief moment of resisting to be handcuffed, they were subsequently placed under arrest,” the police report said.
As for the other passengers, the pair were correct in their assertion that no one would fly if they could not fly — at least temporarily — as police had to remove everyone from the flight, resulting in the flight being delayed.
“Both suspects were taken to Jackson West to be evaluated for the bleeding before being transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center,” WPLG reported. “They both face charges of trespassing after a warning and resisting an officer without violence.”
