AOC redefines ‘barbarism’ in socialist lovefest with Bernie Sanders

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez redefined “barbarism” in a sit-down with Sen. Bernie Sanders, claiming it applies to inequities in healthcare and wages, as well as the fight for unions and stopping endless wars.

The fact that people are choosing between medicine and rent is barbarism,” Ocasio-Cortez declared during the interview for Sanders’ podcast, evidently forgetting all about Obamacare. “The fact that people are worried about whether they will be on the street every four weeks is barbarism. The fact that every time a person has an ache or a pain in their body, and they’re scared that it could either be just a sore joint or cancer, but they can’t find out because they can’t afford the doctor.”

“This is barbarism. And if we do not demand, and not only demand but win unions healthcare, wages, ending endless war, then we will condemn ourselves to barbarism. And I refuse to give up,” she dramatically vowed. “I refuse to submit myself to that future. That’s not a life. And so, to live, we have to fight for each other.”

Sanders will release the podcast on Wednesday but he used Ocasio-Cortez’s clip to promote it. He hyped the podcast on X, stating that he and the New York Democrat will “discuss what it’s like to take on the establishment, why we call ourselves democratic socialists, and what inspires us to keep fighting against long odds.”

Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez have been socialist buddies for years. They are two of the most radicalized progressives in Congress with Sanders being an avowed socialist and Ocasio-Cortez being a member of the progressive “Squad.” They collaborate on a whole slew of leftist policies that are pushed in Congress, especially when it comes to the “Green New Deal for Public Housing” meant to “reimagine and reinvigorate public housing in the United States,” as well as “fair” wages.

“The two public figures have become mainstays in progressive politics and played a key role in the beginning of the Biden administration in passing the progressive policies in the Inflation Reduction Act, including capping insulin at $35 for those covered by Medicare and letting Medicare negotiate directly with drug companies. Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders are both supporters of ‘Medicare for All’ legislation,” The Hill reported.

They have also been vocal critics of Israel and its pushback in Gaza against Hamas. Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez want a ceasefire and for the U.S. to halt military aid to Israel.

Sanders’ podcast launched about two months ago, along with his book, “It’s OK to Be Angry about Capitalism.”
