President Biden’s handlers are pulling out all the stops in their quest to keep up appearances with the 81-year-old geriatric president, including new shoes.
In addition to Biden’s fading cognitive abilities, there are growing physical challenges that can no longer be ignored, like how he walks and concerns about falling.
“Some advisers have told him he should walk faster out of concern that his gait feeds impressions that he’s too old. And yet the White House is sufficiently worried about him tripping that he has taken to boarding Air Force One via a shorter staircase through the belly of the plane, forgoing the iconic image of the president waving from the main doorway high above the tarmac,” NBC News reported over the weekend.
RNC Research took note of an Inside Edition report about new kicks for the president, tweeting: “Biden’s handlers are forcing him to wear a new pair of ‘lifestyle sneakers’ because he trips so much.”

According to Inside Edition, which states that the president “does have a history of stumbling,” Biden is sporting new shoes called “lifestyle sneakers” from Hoka.
The pair Biden is seen wearing in the video is called the “Hoka Transport,” which has a “wide sole” that is “no doubt great for stability,” according to the report. The shoes are reportedly “designed for maximum comfort and support while walking or hiking,” and feel like “walking on air.”
At $150 retail, and $175 for the souped-up Transport GTX model, the sneakers will put a dent in the average budget.
“The shoe bears the seal of approval from the American Podiatric Association for being beneficial to foot health,” Inside Edition noted, adding that Biden suffers from sensory peripheral neuropathy in his feet.
“Peripheral neuropathy refers to damage to nerves,” said Dr. Gabrelle Laurenti, a podiatrist, told the syndicated newsmagazine. “Whether it’s from trauma or a disease, there’s some kind of damage to nerves.”
The news kicks prompted a lot of hilarious memes online. Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:

I started wearing Hoka due to an injury that screwed up my legs. They are actually very good shoes. I don’t necessarily want to see the president wearing them tho.

They should come with a “lifestyle crash-helmet.”
