New York rolls out rule change to hire thousands of migrants – and it’s on a fast track

Leftist’s latest bar-lowering effort could see thousands of state jobs filled by illegal aliens as a Democratic governor expressed she was “anxious to get this moving quickly.”

The self-destruction of New York has gone beyond over-taxation, soft-on-crime policies and draconian business-imploding lockdowns to the slow cessation of public positions to foreign nationals. At least that appeared to be in the cards according to a Civil Service Commission memo first reported by Bloomberg News.

According to the document, under Gov. Kathy Hochul’s (D) leadership, the state agencies “have identified approximately 4,000 positions, many in hard-to-recruit, entry level titles that can potentially be filled” by “migrants and asylum seekers with legal work status in the United States.”

Of course, in order to see the plan through the Empire State first had to dismiss requirements for the aliens to fill those positions that included English proficiency along with proof of education and previous employment.

“I’m anxious to get this moving quickly,” said Hochul to reporters Tuesday as word of the on-the-job training opportunities spread.

“The creation of these transitional titles is a win-win way for the State and its agencies to connect qualified and motivated individuals with meaningful jobs and opportunity; help solve the migrant crisis; and rebuild the State workforce,” stated the memo.

“We are excited about this,” echoed State Department of Civil Service Commissioner Timothy Hogues during a budget hearing Tuesday.

He went on to argue, “This is no different from our traineeships and apprenticeships that we have that allow individuals to up-skill or get the time on the job to be able to meet the qualifications. This is just a bigger part of our holistic approach to opening up government and making these jobs available and reducing the barriers.”

A statement from a spokesperson for the governor to the New York Post expressed, “Governor Hochul has prioritized modernizing our State workforce and eliminating red tape, and she has instituted a series of reforms to achieve that goal.”

“This initiative, which has not yet been implemented, would offer temporary employment opportunities that are available for anyone who can legally work in the United States,” added the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, the possibility to offer the “transitional titles” was a result of Hochul’s ongoing effort to get aliens legal work status despite nearly 400,000 New Yorkers remaining on the unemployment line as she undertook the effort for so-called “asylum seekers.”

“Today,” came her August announcement, “@NYSLabor is launching a process for asylum seekers to sign up for employment opportunities, so they can quickly find a job after attaining legal work status, and will also unveil a new process for employers to express their interest in hiring work-authorized migrants.”
