The weight of Florida’s fight against leftist indoctrination was felt in the nation’s third-largest school district as a measure for yet another virtue-signaling block on the calendar was defeated.

Earlier this year, the same alphabet activists who once insisted they just wanted to be left alone to love who they wished expanded their debauch month of “Pride,” replete with deviant displays in front of children, to a “Summer of Pride” according to Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine.
After a lengthy school board meeting in Miami-Dade extended into the morning, a vote prevented rainbow warriors from chalking up another victory with a majority standing against a proposed “LGBTQ+ History Month.”
WPLG Local 10 News reported that the 12-hour school board meeting where dozens had registered to speak on behalf of their side of the debate ended with a 5-3 vote in opposition to marking October as the latest time for special interest celebrations.
The decision was heavily impacted by the leadership of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis who, in addition to signing and expanding the Parental Rights in Education law protecting students from indoctrination disguised as education, had endorsed and appointed four of the five board members who voted down the measure.
“As constitutional officers, we have to uphold state law, and it’s very clear what that law is,” said member Monica Colucci who had successfully won her election with support from the backing of the governor.
Her ‘no’ vote was accompanied by Roberto Alonso, Mary Blanco, Danny Espino and Mari Tere Rojas who, according to WPLG, “expressed concern about the legality of the resolution, saying it might violate the Parental Rights in Education law’s limits on discussion of sexual and gender identity in the K-12 education system.”
“At this point,” said Vice Chair Espino, “unfortunately, I cannot support this.”
Meanwhile, on the ‘yes’ side, Lucia Baez-Geller defended the attempted measure to WPLG as she said, “Because the LGBTQ exists in Miami-Dade, it’s made significant contributions to our country and county and we have LGBTQ students. It does not impact or affect instructional materials, and I cannot believe I have to say this out loud, but this item does not indoctrinate our students into any sort of lifestyle.”
Baez-Geller was joined by Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall and Luisa Santo in voting yes to mark October as a sexual orientation-focused history month for kids.
DeSantis had celebrated the “Pro-parent” victories across Florida of 30 candidates “committed to the student-first principles” that he was leading. On election night in Aug. 2022 he said, “Parents are sick of the nonsense when it comes to education.”

“We want the schools to educate kids, we are sick of the indoctrination. We want to make sure that they’re teaching them the basics, teaching them to read, write, add [and] subtract, all the important subjects,” he continued. “Not trying to jam woke gender ideology down their throat, not trying to do divisive rhetoric like CRT that’s teaching kids to hate each other and hate our country.”
Reactions to the report shared in support of holding the line against indoctrination.
Good. Education over LGBTQ indoctrination.

Great job Miami! The @MDCPS needs to stay focused on academic issues and not social issues.
