Sen. Kennedy roasts Kamala’s latest verbal stumble: ‘English is not her first, second, third, or even fourth language’

Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy (R) didn’t shy away from offering advice for people who “suck” as he reacted to Vice President Kamala Harris’ latest word salad and how it demonstrated her grasp of the English language.

“Some…might say…English is not her first, second, third, or even fourth language.”

The second-term lawmaker, who once sat with then-Sen. Harris as a fellow freshman on the Senate Judiciary Committee, made his remarks after Fox News host Trace Gallagher prompted him with a recent clip from the 2023 Essence Festival of Culture.

Filling in as host of “The Story,” Gallagher noted how growing concern over President Joe Biden’s age had heightened scrutiny of the vice president and her attempt to define “culture” had provided ample fodder to detractors.

“The vice president has — has a history of these baffling and indecipherable comments even going back to her time as California attorney general. My question is, you know, it’s not really confidence-building when you hear these types of comments,” the host prompted. “What are your thoughts on this?”

Kennedy preempted his takeaway by noting, “I don’t hate anyone,” and provided three points he believed encapsulated her struggles. “She’s struggling for a couple of reasons. Number one, she doesn’t appear to be prepared.”

“Number two, no matter how well-prepared you are, you have to be able to express yourself. And with respect, I would say the vice president needs to work on being a little more articulate,” he continued. “Some–a [senator] might say that based on her performances, that English is not her first, second, third, or even fourth language.”

As previously covered, the clip of Harris included her comments from New Orleans where she had tried, “Culture is — it is a reflection of our moment in our time. Right? And, and, and present culture is the way we express our feeling about the moment. And, and we should always find times to express how we feel about the moment that is a reflection of joy.”

Her latest example in a long history of inarticulate speeches had been met with a considerable amount of razzing, that included Fox News contributor Liz Peek asking, “OMG — what is wrong with this babbling brook of a woman?”

Kennedy had perhaps pinned down exactly what when he presented his third reason for Harris’ struggles and told Gallagher, “But number three, you know, I think sound advice for anyone, politician or not, is always be yourself unless you suck. If you suck, have enough self-awareness to know you suck, and try to do better.”

“And I just don’t get the impression that the vice president is — she’s not being herself,” the lawmaker leveled, possibly with a touch of self-censoring. “She’s trying to sound smart instead of just saying what she believes and saying it in a clear articulate manner that the average American who’s busy can understand.”
