The invincible ignorance of race hustling attorney Benjamin Crump led him to honor one of the saints of the Black Lives Matter movement only to have his claims decimated by fact checkers.

Any modicum of common sense displayed by the trial lawyer, who deleted an allegedly defamatory tweet against pregnant Sarah Comrie after she presented receipts to prove she had been the victim of an altercation with five black men, was cast aside Saturday when he attempted to honor the memory of Michael Brown.

The catalyst behind “hands up, don’t shoot,” Brown was shot dead in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014 after assaulting a police officer. However, the narrative persisted that the young man was a victim to systemic racism and Crump perpetuated that Saturday with a tweet marking what would have been Brown’s 27th birthday.

“Today, Michael Brown would have turned 27 yrs old. At only 18, Michael was shot and killed in Ferguson, Missouri,” the attorney wrote. “His death sparked a movement in his community that highlighted the police violence affecting so many Black men. Michael’s life will not be forgotten, Rest In Power.”

Slapped with a community notes fact check that read, “The Department of Justice investigation into the death of Brown found the evidence consistent with the officer’s statement that Brown attacked the officer in his car and later lunged at the officer. Witnesses largely testified that Brown was not shot while his hands were up,” others piled on to set the record straight and call Crump out.

“Allow me to correct your tweet for you. At only 18, Michael Brown robbed a convenience store, assaulted a police officer, tried to steal his gun, and then charged at him before being shot and killed,” wrote Greg Price. “His death sparked a grift of race hustlers telling lies to divide the country.”

Others tacked on with a reference to Crump’s deleted tweet and said, “Yep, if only he hadn’t strong-arm robbed someone directly before his confrontation with the officer, and then tried to grab the officer’s gun during that confrontation. Funny how you left all that out, right? Good luck with the impending lawsuit on the tweet you deleted.”

Previously, Crump had reacted to Comrie’s plight where the Bellevue Hospital employee in New York City had been put on leave from her job after a viral video showed her being harassed by a group that claimed she was stealing their bike; the one that she had just rented.

In a since deleted tweet that was also fact checked, Crump had written in part, “This is unacceptable! A white woman was caught on camera attempting to STEAL a Citi Bike from a young Black man in NYC.”

Comrie’s attorney Justin Marino has since indicated that “Every organization that referred to her as a ‘Karen,’ a ‘racist,’ and a ‘thief,'” would be facing a defamation suit, and Crump’s deleted post had the markings of that threshold.

Still, the post about Brown remained leaving ample time for more Twitter users to call out the blatant disregard for truth in the tweet.

Michael Brown had already broken bones in the cops face when the cop shot. Testimony from black people disproved the “hands up” lie. Michael Brown is only remembered because of race hustlers like Ben Crump.
