Child trafficking could be Biden’s Waterloo

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

Two federal agencies are encouraging unaccompanied children from South and Central America to make the dangerous trip to the U.S. border.

A Florida grand jury has accused the Biden administration of “facilitating” the trafficking of child refugees. It is the culmination of a five-month investigation conducted at the request of Governor Ron DeSantis.

The panel denounced the Biden administration, most notably the Homeland Security Department and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement(ORR). The panel concluded that ORR’s claim that child refugees are being cared for and united with their families is a lie.

“In reality, ORR is facilitating the forced migration, sale, and abuse of foreign children, and some of our fellow Florida residents are (in some cases unwittingly) funding and incentivizing it for primarily economic reasons,” the report stated. “If any resident of Florida exposed U.S.-born children to this process, they would be justifiably arrested for child neglect or worse.”

Last month, USA Today proffered a tepid response to a February 26th Instagram post claiming that Biden had reversed an effort by then-President Donald Trump to combat child sex trafficking.

“Trump was the 1st President in U.S. History to acknowledge that children are being sold for sex in the U.S., and the 1st President to open a White House office to form coalitions with law enforcement to save America’s children,” read the post. “On his 2nd day in office, Biden rescinded Trump’s Executive Order that helped combat child sex trafficking.” Instagram asserted.

USA Today countered with a “fact check” rating the claim as “false”:

“Biden did not rescind Trump’s orders on child sex trafficking. He introduced an updated plan for fighting child trafficking in December 2021. The post is also wrong about Trump being the first president to acknowledge child sex trafficking.”

In truth, one of Biden’s 77 published orders in 2021 did alter the 2017 Trump order on trafficking.

If anything, USA Today’s response added fuel to the fire. In a stunning report, DeSantis accused federal immigration authorities of “human trafficking” in their oversight of unaccompanied migrant children in the state.

The Miami Herald’s Carol Marbin Miller reported on March 30: “The Statewide Prosecutors’ Office released an acerbic, 46-page grand jury report that denounces the federal Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Refugee Resettlement(ORR) for leaving vulnerable migrant children with unvetted caregivers-or ‘sponsors’-and then abdicating all oversight of their welfare. The report suggests the policy amounts to criminal child neglect.”

The Statewide Grand Jury, an arm of Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office, also accused the federal government of covering up alleged misdeeds.

“The public is led to believe that the process described by our federal government in documents and popular media accounts at least resembled the truth,” the report said. “ORR asserts that children fleeing from danger are adequately identified, properly cared for, and reunited with their family here in the country.”

It’s unclear what witnesses testified before the grand jury. Subpoenas and requests for documents were issued. Information to Florida non-governmental organizations doing business with ORR was stymied.

“We received, instead, a response from the organizations that they would be purposely ignoring some of those requests under the orders from ORR, with whom they have a contractual relationship,” the report stated. One NGO official reportedly told the panel their organization would rather operate an unlicensed and illegal child placement facility than risk losing ORR’s funding, the report asserts.

ORR actively discouraged its employees from questioning the process even internally, even firing some, according to the report.

In March, a federal judge ruling in a case filed by Moody’s office ordered the Biden administration to vacate and review a policy that has granted parole to tens of thousands of migrants who lack proper documents. The grand jury report, called a “presentment,” was supervised by Statewide Prosecutor Nick Cox.

It is the latest in the long-running dispute between DeSantis, other Florida leaders and Biden administration bureaucrats. At the center of the discussion is custody and care received by mostly Central and South American children who cross the southern border without any family or adult supervision.

In the end, Florida may represent the tipping point in fully exposing the Biden border policy. In a revelation too disturbing for many to digest, all indications suggest that the end result was premeditated.

According to the Miami Herald report:

By “incentivizing” illegal migration, the grand jury wrote, the Biden administration has encouraged children “to undertake and/or be subjected to a harrowing trek to our border, ultimately abandoning significant numbers of those who survive the journey to an uncertain fate with persons who are largely unvetted.

“This process exposes children to horrifying health conditions, constant criminal threat, labor and sex trafficking, robbery, rape and other experiences not done justice by mere words.” grand jurors added.

The question becomes how long can deeds so dire be ignored by a complicit corporate media? Were they handled with a comparable intensity as seen in Donald Trump’s recent indictment, the country would likely be calling for resignations, indictments and prison sentences for all concerned!

For Republicans, it presents the ultimate opportunity, if properly positioned.

Human trafficking is big business and it is a problem worldwide with 15 to 17-year-olds from poor and developing countries being the most consistent victims. That the United States has taken a leadership role under the Biden Administration is an unthinkable reality!

The 2024 elections may be remembered as the battle for the “soul of our nation.” America should be united in outrage with a system that reeks of immorality.

Marrying the Biden administration to dishonesty, debauchery and corruption will fall on many open eyes and ears. It might be enough to carry the White House. Not to mention removing vulnerable Democrats from Senate seats in “red” and “purple” states.
