Sometimes we forget, but actors are people just like us. This means that they have the same pet peeves we do, including never-ending potholes our tax dollars are supposed to fill.
Famous muscle man Arnold Schwarzenegger thought he was doing a good deed when he helped fill in a hole in Brentwood, but now the city is lashing out at the “Terminator” actor for reportedly meddling in their business.
On April 11, he posted a tweet about his neighborhood being “upset about this giant pothole that’s been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks.” Video shows a crew of men working meticulously to fill it in, to the delight of drivers passing by.
Today, after the whole neighborhood has been upset about this giant pothole that’s been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks, I went out with my team and fixed it. I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. Here you go. pic.twitter.com/aslhkUShvT

But a city spokesperson claims that this wasn’t a pothole, it was a service trench being utilized for maintenance.
“This location is not a pothole,” they told NBCLA. “It’s a service trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by SoCal Gas, who expects the work to be completed by the end of May. As is the case with similar projects impacting City streets, SoCal Gas will be required to repair the area once their work is completed.”
The work had reportedly started January 26, which means people have been forced to drive over the hole for nearly 3 full months, as SoCal Gas had been unable to get around to paving it themselves due to unseasonably wet conditions. Conditions that didn’t seem to stop Schwarzenegger and his crew from sealing it up over the course of one day.
The “Kindergarten Cop” star’s representative blew off the city of Los Angeles’ claims, saying they are “being careful with their wording to imply Arnold prevented their gas line work without directly saying it, because it’s not true.” In fact, the actor had filled in not one, but TWO potholes, with only one being the service trench. Odd that the city decided to leave that one out of their statement, isn’t it?
“The city’s first response to this news was that the service trench would be filled by the end of May,” the representative continued. “So it appears their plan was to close one lane of a two-lane road and force people to drive in cars and bicycles in wrong-way traffic for 2 more months, which is insane.”
Sounds like just another day in LA. At least Brentwood doesn’t have the added problems of rampant homelessness, and feces and drug paraphernalia littering the street.
Yet.
