New bodycam footage shows officers’ heroic takedown of Nashville school shooter

The bodycam footage of officers who responded to the shooting at Nashville, Tennessee’s Covenant School was released Tuesday morning, showing the speed and efficiency of the officers who neutralized the threat.

Audrey Hale, the 28-year-old shooter, was shot dead with a swift exchange of gunfire from the Metro Nashville Police Department. The police entered the building and quickly cleared classrooms in an urgent bid to find the shooter.

“The kids are all locked down but we have two kids that we don’t know where they are,” a woman tells Officer Rex Englebert as he arrives on scene and retrieves his rifle.

“Okay,” he responds. “Yes ma’am.’

Sirens pierce the air as the officers stack up to clear the school before hearing the horrifying sound of gunshots coming from the second floor. They rush up the stairs and within seconds come in contact with the shooter. Without hesitation, officers fire shots at Hale, who falls to the ground.

“That’s exactly what has to be done,” CEO of Global Security and former DEA agent Dave Katz told Fox News Digital. “Heedless of officer safety, you enter and dispatch the shooter.”

Local outlet News Channel 5 recently reported on Hale’s final messages, painting a dark and disturbing picture that foreshadowed the horrific events that would take place at the school.

“I’m planning to die today,” Hale reportedly wrote to her former middle school basketball teammate Averianna Patton. “THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!! You’ll probably hear about me on the news after I die. This is my last goodbye. I love you. See you again in another life.”

Less than 30 minutes after Hale sent this message, police received a call about an active shooter at Covenant School.

“One day this will make more sense,” the shooter also said. “I’ve left behind more than enough evidence behind. But something bad is about to happen.”

A search warrant executed on Hale’s home turned up hand-drawn maps of the school where she had once been a student.

Surveillance video was also released showing a vehicle identified as belonging to the shooter making its way through the school’s parking lot, as well as the shooter blowing through glass doors of the school to gain entry.
