Last Wednesday, an 18-year-old woman filed a letter of intent to sue the Kaiser Hospital Foundation for having placed her on puberty blockers when she was 12 and later performed a mastectomy on her when she was 13.
Layla Jane, a detransitioner, argues, according to a press release from her attorneys, that she’d “desperately needed help” as a child but had instead “found herself under the ‘care’ of medical professionals who chemically and surgically mutilated her body.”
“From ages 6 to 11 years old, [Jane] had a few intermittent and irregular psychiatric/psychological counseling sessions with various different providers for the following: anxiety issues, extreme mood fluctuations, self-harm, problems at school resulting in suspensions, social issues, oppositional behavior, defiant behavior, anger, and related issues,” the press release from the Center for American Liberty reads.
“At age 11, [Jane] heard about transgenderism, did extensive ‘research’ online, and self-diagnosed that she was actually a ‘boy’, and that transitioning would be the solution to all of her mental problems. This was all doctors needed to irreversibly change her life forever,” it continues.
Initially, doctors with Kaiser Hospital Foundation told Jane that they couldn’t provide her with cross-sex hormones until she was 16 and surgery until she was 18.
“But, soon thereafter,” according to the letter of intent, the doctors evidently changed their minds and decided to approve both cross-hormones and a double mastectomy “without performing an adequate evaluation and treatment of [Jane’s] extensive mental health co-morbidities.”

They also allegedly “intentional[ly]” failed to inform Jane about the myriads of risks associated with transitioning to another gender.
“This concealment included, among other things, the lack of adequate clinical
research supporting this treatment, particularly for 12-year-old girls; the existence of high-quality clinical research contra-indicating treatment; the 80-90% desistence rates for childhood gender dysphoria; and the significant possibility of detransition and regret,” the letter of intent reads.
Likewise, the doctors falsely framed her then-potential transition as a life or death issue by making it out to seem that Jane would be endangering her life were she to not pursue cross-hormones and a double mastectomy.
“The fraudulent misrepresentations included, among other things, falsely representing that Layla’s gender dysphoria and co-morbid mental health symptoms would not resolve without imitation sex change transition, falsely representing that Layla presented an increased risk of suicide unless she transitioned, and presenting Layla’s parents with the false dilemma that: ‘would they rather have
a live son, or a dead daughter?'” the letter continues.
Appearing on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” last week, Jane expressed dissatisfaction over what she’s been through.
“I don’t think I should have been allowed to change my sex before I could legally consent to have sex. I don’t think I’m better off for the experience, and I think transition just completely added fuel to the fire that was my pre-existing conditions,” she said.
Listen, and take note of her voice, which is much deeper than normal:
In a separate statement reported by the Daily Mail, Jane vowed her allegiance to “the growing group of detransitioners” who are fighting back against this sort of medical malpractice.
“These are decisions I will have to live with for the rest of my life. I’m ready to join the growing group of detransitioners so that no other child has to go through the torment I went through at the hands of doctors I should have been able to trust,” she said.
The lawsuit comes about a month and a half after a former case manager at a transgender medical care center in St. Louis went public at The Free Press about what’s been happening at clinics across the country.
Jamie Reed was her name, and in 2018 she became a case manager at the Washington University Transgender Center located in the St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Four years later, she left the clinic this past November.
“I left the clinic in November of last year because I could no longer participate in what was happening there,” she wrote for The Free Pres.
“By the time I departed, I was certain that the way the American medical system is treating these patients is the opposite of the promise we make to ‘do no harm.’ Instead, we are permanently harming the vulnerable patients in our care,” she added.

She went on to describe how the doctors she’d worked with had done much of the same as the doctors who’d “helped” Jane.
For example, doctors “downplayed the negative consequences” of transition, preferring instead to emphasize “the need for” it.
This at times led to disastrous outcomes, such as the time in 2020 when a boy who wanted to transition into a girl was prescribed Bicalutamide.
“Bicalutamide is a medication used to treat metastatic prostate cancer, and one of its side effects is that it feminizes the bodies of men who take it, including the appearance of breasts. The center prescribed this cancer drug as a puberty blocker and feminizing agent for boys,” Reed wrote.
“As with most cancer drugs, bicalutamide has a long list of side effects, and this patient experienced one of them: liver toxicity. He was sent to another unit of the hospital for evaluation and immediately taken off the drug. Afterward, his mother sent an electronic message to the Transgender Center saying that we were lucky her family was not the type to sue,” she added.
