Unabashed teachers’ union boss Randi Weingarten may think her recent tweet was an own on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), but social media users were gracious enough to disabuse her of that notion as they issued scathing report cards for her “D-” quality exposition.
Sunday, American Federation of Teachers (AFT) president Weingarten partook in the mutual back-washing of corporate media and leftist activists as she promoted one of the latest hit pieces on DeSantis, published in The New York Times, setting a fearmonger’s tone of the imminent legislative session. In her haste to try and dunk on the conservative leader, Weingarten instead encapsulated some of the chief complaints with government-run education.
“DeSantis should be fixated on the cost of living issues in Fla- housing is unaffordable, home insurance even worse,” she began before her errors presented as less like the brevity of internet communication and more like carelessness, “but instead he is expanding gun access, defunding, public schools, & banning everything he dislikes- teachers, journalists & the vulnerable.”

Before working her way up the union political ladder, Weingarten was in fact a teacher herself in Brooklyn, New York molding young minds on courses that included political science, US history, law and ethical issues; certainly not the sort of classes where details matter.
Former Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera (R-Fla.) was among those who took aim at the union leader’s poor representation of the profession she is meant to defend, and wrote, “My teachers always called me out for not proof reading my spelling and grammar and they were right in doing so.”

His critique wasn’t even the most scathing as other users dove into specifics, with one writing, “Your use of neologisms such as ‘exanding’ and the horrid use of commas, defunding, would earn you a D- on this exposition. Frightening yet apropos as you are the Queen Teacher Supreme of the absolute sh!t show our public education system has become.”

Frightening her poor composition here. A D- is generous.

Randi should be fixated on why so many parents left NY for FL.
Maybe it’s because they wanted to be as far away as possible from schools where Randi has influence. https://t.co/7cV6h2O0U1

Randi should acquaint herself with spellcheck.

Actor Dean Cain reacted differently as he wondered, “Why is she always commenting on everything? I thought she was the head of the mafia — I mean teacher’s union.”

Proving his point, last week Weingarten had also offered proof that basic comprehension skills were demonstrably lacking as, from the steps of the Supreme Court, she likened small business bailouts distributed during COVID after forcibly being shuttered by the government to the progressive vote-buying scheme of forgiving student loan debt voluntarily shouldered to acquire liberal arts degrees.
“All of a sudden, when it’s about our students, they challenge it,” she railed, “the corporations challenge it, the student loan lenders challenge it. That is not right, that is not fair, and that is what we are fighting as well when we say cancel student debt. This is about the people, and it is about the people’s future, and it is about all of your futures.”
At the time of this posting, the tweet remained unedited and proudly displayed pinned to the top of her Twitter feed.
I don't think DeSantis needs the advice of the woman who drove public schools (that already sucked) into the ground in a single year. https://t.co/vlE80d6Y2J

My mother (long retired) started teaching in a 1-room schoolhouse. The 2 things she says hurt education the most:
1) Teacher’s unions. -they don’t care about students, education or teachers. Just the union.
2) Federal Dep of Ed -completely redundant & arbitrary.— John Taznar (@Taznari) March 6, 2023
She should be focused on the cities where there are zero kids on grade level for reading and math. But she’s an attention craving hack. Teachers should be ashamed she’s their leader.

It’s hard to believe that teachers elected this absolutely awful person to represent their profession. Teachers, withdraw from the corrupt unions! They do not care about you or the students you teach.
