‘Heavily intoxicated’ student arrested after allegedly urinating on an American Airlines passenger

There’s a long list of things to worry about when flying in today’s post-9/11 world, but the one thing few would have on their list is being concerned that the passenger sitting next to you might urinate on you.

Yet, that’s reportedly what happened to one traveler who took an American Airlines flight from New York to India.

A reportedly “heavily intoxicated” 21-year-old college student was arrested over the weekend for allegedly emptying his bladder in his seat while sleeping, according to Indian News Agency ANI. A source said the urine leaked onto the passenger sitting next to the man.

The student, a citizen of India attending school in the U.S., was arrested when the flight landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Flight personnel told law enforcement the man was “heavily intoxicated and was not adhering to crew instructions on board,” ANI reported.

“He was repeatedly arguing with the operating crew, was not willing to be seated and continuously endangering the safety of crew and aircraft and after disturbing the safety of fellow passengers, finally urinated on pax seated on 15G,” American Airlines told the outlet.

“We’re grateful to our crew members who are consistently dedicated to the safety and care of our customers and handled the circumstances with the utmost professionalism,” the airliner said in a statement.

The student is reportedly now banned from traveling on AA flights.

The incident made for some interesting online comments. In addition to the expected juvenile humor, there was even a call to forgive the student.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
