Missouri AG gives radical Dem atty Kim Gardner ‘until noon’ to resign or ‘face removal’ following latest tragedy

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner, a Democrat, has until noon on Thursday to resign or face removal in the wake of a tragic weekend car crash that left a 17-year-old volleyball player in critical condition, with both her legs amputated.

Smyrna High two-sport athlete Janae Edmondson was walking with her parents back to their hotel after the first day of a volleyball tournament in St. Louis when 21-year-old Daniel Riley allegedly sped through a yield sign and struck a car that in turn struck Janae, pinning her between two cars, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Security footage caught the crash and quickly made its way to social media.

At the time of the accident, Riley “was out on bond for a 2020 robbery charge that was dismissed and refiled last year.”

Were it not for her father’s quick thinking and military training, Edmondson would likely have not survived the accident. Her father used belts as tourniquets to slow the bleeding.

Prior to the crash, Riley had a history of violating the conditions of his bond on dozens of occasions, but Gardner failed to lock him back behind bars, the Post-Dispatch reported.

“We are giving Kim Gardner until noon tomorrow to resign,” Attorney General Andrew Bailey, a Republican, stated Wednesday on Twitter. “If she refuses, she will face immediate removal proceedings in the form of a writ of quo warranto brought by our office.”

“As AG, I want to protect the people of St. Louis, and that includes protecting victims of crime and finding justice for them,” Bailey continued. “Instead of protecting victims, Circuit Attorney Gardner is creating them. My office will do everything in its power to restore order, and eliminate the chaos in St. Louis caused by Kim Gardner’s neglect of her office.”

In a statement on Wednesday, Gardner attempted to blame the courts for denying her request to revoke Riley’s bail.

“There is no official correspondence in the court docket in the months they point to,” noted KMOV journalist Tyler Klaus, who adds that Gardner’s office “can’t even get the year right on a statement.”

Coach Jeff Wismer of the Mid TN Volleyball Club – the team for which Edmondson plays — said that the teen underwent an unplanned surgery on Wednesday and was in “considerable pain.”

The volleyball club set up a GoFundMe to help her family with medical bills and “other financial needs.”

“We at Mid TN Volleyball Club are asking our community to pray for Janae, her family, and her teammates,” the club wrote on Facebook. “The whole club loves Janae and values her athletic gifts, toughness, determination, and perseverance. These are things she will need in great measure during the long recovery that lies ahead.”
