DeSantis ‘values’ lesson backfires on NYC mayor as Christina Pushaw brags about Florida streets

Progressive New York City Mayor Eric Adams thought he could score cheap points on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) visiting the Big Apple and was quickly reminded why he “should probably be the one taking notes.”

Whatever America’s Governor has planned regarding his political aspirations for 2024, DeSantis has continued leading from the front in an effort to spread the conservative successes of The Sunshine State across America. On Monday, that included him kicking off a blue state tour meeting with law enforcement officials to highlight actions Florida has taken to reduce crime and provide the necessary resources first responders need to keep communities safe.

Adams, a retired NYPD captain repeatedly under fire for his administration’s failure to properly address rising levels of violent crime in the five boroughs, seemed keen on setting himself up for a social media smackdown as he reacted to DeSantis’ arrival in Staten Island.

“Welcome to NYC, @GovRonDeSantis, a place where we don’t ban books, discriminate against our LGBTQ+ neighbors, use asylum seekers as props, or let the government stand between a woman and health care,” he tweeted. “We’re happy to teach you something about values while you’re here.”

Holding the line of sanity in the Twitter-sphere, DeSantis’ rapid response director Christina Pushaw was a leading voice setting Adams straight over his foolhardy attempt to land blows outside his weight class against the governor enthusiastically greeted Monday morning.

“Nice rhetoric,” she began, “but here’s reality: More Americans fled NYC than any other metro area last year. More Americans moved to Florida than any other state. You know this, Mayor Adams, and you’ve talked (accurately) about crime pushing people out of NYC. Florida’s crime rate meanwhile is at a 50 year low. Maybe it’s you who can learn from [DeSantis].”

Pushaw was far from alone as the hits kept rolling in against hizzoner, reiterating her points along with zeroing in on Adams’ continuation of draconian COVID measures and effort to have it both ways on immigration, promoting NYC as a sanctuary city while demanding someone else foot the bill, only to find himself in a showdown with illegals refusing to leave the cushy digs they trashed.

If Adams’ PR team had any sense, they would have seen that Pushaw was already primed to hit back after opening on the conditions of Florida’s streets when compared to major cities run by Democrats like Washington, D.C., Chicago, and New York.

Quote tweeting Bill Mitchell who decried “garbage everywhere” in the nation’s capital as compared to “Miami where the streets are immaculate,” Pushaw wrote, “DC can absolutely afford to keep their streets clean. They refuse to do so because they lack the political will to maintain a pleasant, safe and liveable city. Same situation as other cities controlled by Democrats.”

“Meanwhile,” she went on with visual aids, “i saw this tweet while taking a walk in Midtown Miami, this is representative of what all the streets look like there. DC can definitely do better.”

Pushaw’s point was added to with the comment, “You are 100% on the money. No place is perfect but Floridians have great leadership and this is the result!”
