Controversial Canadian shop teacher Kayla Lemieux pushed back after images were captured, believed to be him without his infamous busty getup, and insisted “these are real” as he detailed a rare health condition.
Potentially being exposed as a fraud had the Oakville Trafalgar High School teacher telling a new story Saturday about the basis of his identity rooted not merely in his belief, but in an alleged informal diagnosis linked to his supposedly being intersex. At least that was what the Ontario-based teacher had to say to the New York Post during an interview after the outlet snagged snaps of a man with a striking resemblance to Lemieux sans wig, makeup and Z-cup-sized prosthetic breasts.
“I’m not wearing prosthetic breasts,” he said while meeting with a reporter at a cafe outside Toronto. “These are real.”
“My condition is classified as gigantomastia, which can also be referred to as macromastia or breast hypertrophy,” he explained distancing himself from the “transgendered” label. Instead, Lemieux said he was intersex and that, having both male and female chromosomes, he had decided after almost four decades of living as a male to live as a female instead.
“My whole life, I’ve been identifying as male. I’ve been looking like a male. When I decided to embrace this other side of me around age 39, this presented itself,” he said of his large breasts with protruding nipples.
“It’s rare,” the teacher said to the Post, “there is no doubt about it. It affects women on a very rare basis, but in my case, I believe — and my doctor thinks — because I have XX chromosomes as well, that has something to do with it, and hormone sensitivity to estrogen has caused it.”
Prior to the interview, images had been captured of a man who looked like Lemieux and neighbors said, “He wears prosthetic breasts extremely infrequently. He puts the breasts on to teach, occasionally when he goes for a walk or when cops visit.”

Opinions varied on what the motivation might be, from having a fetish to wanting to troll the school system, but Lemieux contended that those pictures were not him and he refused to identify the other man, “I can’t tell you who that is because I don’t want to bring anyone else into this. I don’t want that person being thrown all over the media, but it wasn’t me.”
“This is who I am. This is how I look. You’ve been talking to people in my building but what they’re telling you is harsh and untrue,” the teacher argued. “I am always going out looking the way I am.”
Without having a proper diagnosis, Lemieux believed that the rapid growth of breast tissue was a result of his undergoing hormone therapy. That suggestion tracked with a description of the condition from the Cleveland Clinic.
“If you have gigantomastia, you’ll experience rapid and disproportionate breast growth. The speed at which your breasts grow can vary, from over a few weeks to over several years. The tissue is almost always benign,” the site explained and noted, “It can happen during puberty, pregnancy or from taking medication. In some cases, it occurs spontaneously and for no reason.”
The rare condition has only been reported about 300 times according to the clinic.
Whatever Lemieux’s explanation for the large breasts, outrage remained regarding his attire, for which the Halton District School Board has begun a review of their dress code after repeated complaints from the community.
Speaking with the Post, Julia Malott, a 32-year-old Canadian who identified as a “transgender mom,” criticized the teacher’s scandalous outfits and said, “I cannot fathom why someone would wear something that publicly sexualizes themselves in such a way. What they are wearing is absolutely not appropriate for school. It is fetish wear used in sex work and the drag industry or people in their own houses who enjoy it. It is certainly not something I would want my daughter to see.”
“When you transition, your goal is to blend in, to the extent that’s possible,” Malott added. “When someone wears such large prosthetic breasts, which captures international attention, that’s what’s left in many people’s minds about trans people in general. It doesn’t cast a good light.”
Lemieux on the other hand doesn’t “think there’s any problems with how [he has] dressed. It’s the personal opinion of other people.”
