Biden outrageously calls Maryland’s first black governor ‘boy’ in speech, audience cheers

President Biden addressed the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Lanham, Maryland on Wednesday, raising many eyebrows and engendering more than a little offense when he referred to the first black governor of the state as “boy.”

The term “boy” is seen as a racially derogatory term used against black men intimating somehow they are not on the same level as white men. The phrase was used by Biden to describe the newly elected Democratic governor of Maryland, Wes Moore, 44, who is a former college football star.

“You got a hell of a new governor in Wes Moore, I tell ya,” Biden informed the union workers.

“He’s the real deal, and the boy looked like he could still play. He’s got some guns on him,” the president proclaimed.

As Biden made the slur, the audience cheered.

This is not the first time that the president has used the racially-charged term referring to a grown black man as “boy,” according to the Daily Mail.

He did it in 2019 in front of a crowd on the campaign trail as he recounted that he worked with James Eastland, who was a Mississippi senator, plantation owner, and an open white supremacist. Eastland resigned as a senator in 1978 and died in 1986.

During that speech, Biden claimed that Eastland respected him, claiming, “He never called me ‘boy,’ he always called me ‘son.'”

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) chastised Biden at the time for using the word “boy” in reference to black men.

Booker stated the use of the term was inappropriate, according to CNN, “You don’t joke about calling black men ‘boys.'”

That prompted Biden to call Booker.

The senator’s spokeswoman, Sabrina Singh, stated after the call, “Cory shared directly what he said publicly — including helping Vice President Biden understand why the word ‘boy’ is painful to so many. Cory believes that Vice President Biden should take responsibility for what he said and apologize to those who were hurt.”

Biden snapped in response, “Apologize for what? There’s not a racist bone in my body.”

Musician Benny S, wearing an “I identify as non-Bidenary” t-shirt on Twitter, proclaimed to his 88,000 followers that the president’s statement was unacceptable.

“Why does Biden get a constant pass with his blatant racism and Democrats… especially black Democrats just let it slide every time…” he asked. “I have compiled SO many videos of other instances of this it’s ridiculous. Wes Moore even though he’s a Democrat is NOT a boy… he’s a grown-ass man. The last black man Biden called “boy” quit…. and rightfully so.”

Biden did it again in 2021 when he referred to Japanese golfer Hideki Matsuyama, who was 29 at the time, as “boy” according to the Daily Mail.

“You’ve got a Japanese boy coming over here and guess what? He won the Masters. He won the Masters. He won the green jacket,” the president told the Japanese prime minister during a press conference.

He did it a third time in October, calling Delaware Senator Chris Coons, a 59-year-old white man, “boy” during a speech on student loan forgiveness.

“And Chris Coons, who has the seat I used to hold,” Biden stated. “Only difference is that he not only has a law degree, he has a divinity degree. The boy can preach.”

In April, during his remarks on the Safer America Plan, Biden referred to former U.S. Secretary of the Army Patrick Murphy, who is white, as “boy,” according to Fox News.

“And my buddy, Patrick Murphy, former … Secretary of the Army as well as a former congressman. And the boy stays in shape, man. Look at him,” Biden remarked at the time.

Earlier in his presidency, Biden also called a black adviser “boy” during a Federal Emergency Management Administration briefing.
