‘We’re ready to crush Dems’: Fla. GOP says only 17K of 1 million new residents registered as Democrat

Christian Ziegler, the vice chair of the Republican Party of Florida, says his party is “obliterating” the Democrats in the Sunshine State, thanks to the one million net people who have moved in since Governor Ron DeSantis (R) first took office.

Speaking exclusively with Breitbart News Saturday, Ziegler revealed, “Out of a million, about half a million have registered as Republican, and only 17,000 have registered as Democrats. So we’re just obliterating the Democrats.”

It’s a stunning number, representing just 1.7% of the influx of new residents.

“I did not believe it,” Ziegler confessed. “I had to go back and redo the numbers because I just couldn’t believe it, but it ends up being true.”

Florida is a “battle-tested” state, Ziegler, who is running to be the Chairman of Florida’s GOP, stated, with a lot of “rockstars” on the Republican roster.

“[Y]ou go really across our roster, we have a lot of rockstars, and my job as chairman would be to really make sure we’re all on the same page. We’re all moving forward together, we’re unified, and we’re ready to crush the Democrats in the November elections,” he said.

The many successes of Governor DeSantis in recent years have inspired many conservatives from across the nation to back him as their top pick for President in 2024.

DeSantis has led the charge against woke agendas, taking on everything from education to COVID restrictions to Walt Disney.

Amid what turned out to be disappointing Republican midterm results, DeSantis won 59.4% of the vote, easily beating his Democratic opponent, Charlie Crist for his second term as Governor.

“Florida was a refuge of sanity when the world went mad,” DeSantis said during his victory speech. “We stood as the citadel of freedom for people across this country and indeed, across the world. We faced attacks, we took the hits, we weathered the storms but we stood our ground.”

Since then, the fearless leader has proposed “law and order” policies, including the death penalty for child rapists; announced a plan to cut university funding for equity and Critical Race Theory programs; and, on Friday, his administration moved to yank the liquor license of an Orlando venue that allowed minors to attend a “sexual” drag show.

It’s the kind of action that makes conservatives stand up and cheer, and it’s certainly part of the reason for Florida’s many new Republican voters.

In addition to the lure of DeSantis, Ziegler says the Republican party in Florida goes “all in with voter registration in the off year, you know, leading into the election.”

“We’re trying to run up that score in voter registration,” he told Breitbart.

When DeSantis first took office in 2018, registered Democratic voters outnumbered Republicans by 250,000. Today, the tables have turned, with Republicans besting Democrats by more than 300,000 registered voters.

“So we’ve had this massive swing,” Ziegler said.

This is in no small part due to the tireless efforts of conservative hero Scott Presler, who volunteered his time to get out the Florida vote.

Looking to the future, Ziegler said the Florida GOP will be turning its attention to local races, including those for school boards and city commissions.

“We’re gonna go aggressive in the local area to really remove these people that have overplayed their hand — and we saw that during COVID — and really deliver victories at the most local level, and that’s where we can frankly have the greatest impact,” he said. “So it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
