Societal reverence for transgenderism and its practitioners isn’t confined to the United States and modern America’s top cultural export has spread like wildfire throughout the western world, notably to Finland where the northern European country proudly featured a 59-year-old man dressed as a woman at the opening ceremony of the European Figure Skating Championships in Espoo this week, drawing much attention on social media.
But the buzz was less about the history making turn of the world’s first transgender national figure skater than the less than stellar skating ability of what one Twitter user mockingly referred to as a “cow on ice” after an embarrassing spill that showed that athletic prowess is secondary to virtue signaling and the global promotion of the “woke” agenda.
The nearly 60-year-old skater whose name is Minna-Maaria Antikainen, formerly Markku-Pekka Antikainen, was already cutting an awkward figure as he/she slowly circled the ice bathed in the spotlight before losing balance, briefly flashing pasty white butt cheeks to the crowd and going down on his/her knees before recovering, drawing much praise for such a courageous performance from some but loads of stinging ridicule from others.

“The spectacular opening ceremony praises equality and diversity,” a press release for the skating championships said. “The theme, ‘Just be you’, will be a visible part of the opening ceremony with performers from various backgrounds. The half-hour opening ceremony was designed by synchronized skating coach Helena Tienhaara together with choreographer and coach Beata Leppilampi.”
“’With the diverse group of performers, we want to show that the ice has space for everyone,” the press release reads, touting that actual skating skills are not a priority. “’The opening ceremony will present skaters at various levels from non-professionals to top athletes. On the ice, we will see Single Skaters, Synchronized Skaters, and Pairs. Included among the performers are Figure Skater Minna-Maaria Antikainen, who defines herself as a gender-neutral woman, adaptive skating performers, and a male synchronized skating team’, Tienhaara said.”
“’Often, only the top skaters in the country are seen in figure skating shows. With this diverse group of performers, we want to show that the ice has space for everyone. Especially in uncertain and difficult times like these, it is meaningful to create an accepting and positive experience for all’, Leppilampi said,” according to the website.
According to Finnish media, the 59-year-old pioneer had no skating ability, only a “childhood dream” to become a professional figure skater.
According to Finnish news reports, which used both he and she pronouns interchangeably to refer to him (he identifies as a gender neutral woman), he had absolutely no skating abilities but had a “childhood dream” to become a professional figure skater.

Twitter reacted to Antikainen’s ungraceful performance.
There are men who are incredible figure skaters. This guy doesn’t even know how to ice skate. I’m so confused how this even happens.

This is not a cow on ice. This is transgender figure skater Minna-Maria Antikainen opening the 2023 European Figure Skating Championships in Espoo, Finland.

Looks like they put a guy in a dress who had never skated in his life and just shoved him onto the ice

Poor guy just put on skates for the first time.

This is so out of hand. It’s ridiculous! Destroying women, and womens sports! Having men compete because they cannot compete with men. This guy is terrible and shouldn’t even be on the ice. Pathetic!

Do you call them figure skaters when they don’t know how to skate?
— Kambree (@KamVTV) January 29, 2023
I guess when you’re special for what you are and not for your skill, then you’re allowed to be terrible. “Terrible at skating, but they’re confused about what gender is. Isn’t that great?!”

This shit stops when the real women says it stops.
They can easily stop doing anything with a man. They prove it all the time.

“According to Outi Wuorenheimo, Executive Director of the Finnish Figure Skating Association and Secretary General of the ISU European Figure Skating Championships®, the championships’ main slogan, ‘Just be you’, is a welcome message for both the audience and the skaters. Wuorenheimo said that the figure skating audience and skaters may often be assumed as elitist. That is why she considers it important that everyone can arrive at the arena as they are,” the event’s press release reads. “’Figure skating is a very conservative sport with various strict rules. In international competitions, same-sex skating pairs are not allowed, and there is no category for non-binary skaters. I hope that every country will start working for equality and diversity in the field’, Wuorenheimo stated.”
