VP Harris insists border crisis is ‘one of our highest priorities’ as she tells Ariz reporter she won’t be visiting

Vice President Kamala Harris claimed the border “is one of our highest priorities” as she declined to visit the border while in Tonopah, Arizona.

The Biden administration’s “Border Czar” was within 100 miles of the border with Mexico, but apparently, you can’t go see the devastation there when there’s a good groundbreaking ceremony to attend.

Yes, Harris was speaking at a groundbreaking ceremony of “a 125-mile-long transmission line that will deliver wind and solar energy to homes and businesses around the area,” Fox News reports.

It was there that local news station KPHO caught up with her and asked her why the border wasn’t on her itinerary.

“I am here to talk about what we are doing around bringing down the cost to American families and creating jobs,” Harris replied. “Let me say on the border that it is one of our highest priorities to continue to work on making sure that the border is secure and that we also do what is necessary to have a fair and humane system.”

She then pointed to Congress to fix what wasn’t broken before she and her boss, President Joe Biden, took over.

“Frankly, Congress needs to act,” Harris stated. “And I can’t emphasize that enough.”

“When it comes down to it,” she continued, “we, as an administration — the first piece of legislation we offered… was that they should pass a law to tighten up our immigration systems, to put resources to it. We put an historic number of agents on the border. We have upgraded and are in the process of upgrading technology. But Congress needs to act.”

According to the White House, that legislation also sought to create “an earned path to citizenship for our immigrant neighbors, colleagues, parishioners, community leaders, friends, and loved ones—including Dreamers and the essential workers who have risked their lives to serve and protect American communities.”

It was literally called the “U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021.”

“The bill allows undocumented individuals to apply for temporary legal status, with the ability to apply for green cards after five years if they pass criminal and national security background checks and pay their taxes. Dreamers, TPS holders, and immigrant farmworkers who meet specific requirements are eligible for green cards immediately under the legislation,” the White House explained. “After three years, all green card holders who pass additional background checks and demonstrate knowledge of English and U.S. civics can apply to become citizens.”

It also increased so-called “Diversity Visas” to 80,000 from 55,000.

So, why should Harris go to the border?

“I visited the border,” she told KPHO. “I will not on this trip, but I have, and I will again.”

See? It’s all good.

“I would urge all of us who care about this issue to really ask and expect that Congress does its job on this,” Harris stated.

Meanwhile, Fox News reports: “Southern border encounters have hit more than 200,000 each month since June, according to Customs and Border Protection. These numbers are expected to increase after the pending expiration of the Title 42 policy that allows agents to turn away migrants in order to stop the spread of COVID.”
