Libs meltdown over MTG assignment as she spits on Gaetz’s ‘congrats,’ declares self ‘leading MAGA voice’

Since first appearing on the D.C. scene in 2021, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has ruffled feathers with her unwavering support of former President Donald Trump, her fearless “America First” stance on a wide range of issues, and her sometimes over-the-top antics to make her MAGA points.

So, it’s no surprise when race-baiting mouthpieces for the progressive agenda like Joy Reid compare the feisty lawmaker to Confederate President Jefferson Davis, as she did on Wednesday in response to the appointment of Greene by the House GOP Steering Committee to both the powerful House Oversight Committee and the House Homeland Security Committee.

But, in the wake of the historical battle to name Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as House Speaker in which Greene was, surprisingly, Team Kevin, and her much-publicized catfights with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), it seems that Greene may be falling for her own press releases.

On Wednesday, Greene snapped at Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) — who famously stood with the Freedom Caucus on Team Anyone-BUT-Kevin to secure a series of game-changing America First concessions from McCarthy — and declared herself the “leading MAGA voice” in Congress.

The ensuing Twitter storm has some Republicans comparing MTG to RINO Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas).

As American Wire reported on Wednesday, Democrats in 2021 stripped Greene from all her committee assignments over her “past incendiary comments.”

“The House of Representatives has voted to strip Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments, following uproar over her past incendiary comments and apparent support of violence against Democrats. Thursday’s vote was 230-199, with 11 Republicans joining with all Democrats to back the resolution,” NPR reported at the time.

Two years later, Republicans flexed their new House majority muscles and assigned her to the Oversight and Homeland Security Committees.

“This is the completion of the insurrection,” Reid blustered on Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Reid Out” on MSNBC.

“This is as if Jefferson Davis was made the chairman of the Senate Oversight Committee or placed in charge of the United States Senate or the House,” she continued, because hysterical hyperbole is Reid’s superpower. “This is placing literally the Confederates in charge of the Union.”

Like almost everything Reid says, it’s a ridiculous take meant to further divide the nation.

But it may be that the two influential committees have just gained a diva who, as of late, has behaved less like an America First patriot and more like a Mean Girl on prom night — something we are far more accustomed to seeing from the likes of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

On Wednesday, Gaetz put aside any differences he may have with Greene and praised her for her new assignments.

“Bravo!” he tweeted to Greene. “She’s going to do amazing work for the people on these key committees she has EARNED.”

Greene’s response was less than gracious.

“Thanks to @SpeakerMcCarthy & Steering for voting me on the committees I requested on the submission form most of us filled out,” she shot back. “Too bad we’re weeks behind after you spent a week only getting MTV [motion to vacate] from 5 to 1.”

“As the leading MAGA voice in Congress, I look forward to committees,” she announced.

Gaetz didn’t take Greene’s bait and responded with a response that took the high road.

“Well, we got a few other things but I’m thrilled the MTV is back to the pre-Pelosi standard,” he replied. “Totally worth it!”

“We the People will be in better hands with MTG holding the corrupt Biden Admin accountable via committee service,” he added. “I’m so here for it.”

But Greene just wouldn’t let it go.

“The rules package did not change at all from Jan 1st to Jan 6th, except MTV went from 5 to 1,” she retorted. “Literally anyone can read them online and see that. All substantial negotiations happened in conference & 5 families meetings before the 15 ballots starting on Jan 3rd.”

It was an exchange that pained many conservatives to witness.

“You’re coming off very badly here, Marjorie,” cautioned one Twitter user. “You are the one that turned against MAGA Republicans, not Gaetz. We see you and it’s not pretty. Do much better.”
