The Southern Star Brewing Co. in Conroe, Texas, has canceled an anti-censorship rally it was scheduled to host later this month, stating the event “doesn’t reflect our own values” as an “apolitical organization,” and there is no indication — really, conspiracy theorists, none at all — that the decision had anything to do with the fact that Kyle Rittenhouse was slated as a “featured speaker.”
“NO MORE,” the Southern Star tweeted on Friday. “Southern Star brewery is an apolitical organization. But we feel that this event doesn’t reflect our own values and we could not in good faith continue to rent our space for the event on 1/26.”
“We don’t do rallies,” the brewery said, “we make beer for people who like beer.”

While, as a private company, the Southern Star has every right to stay “apolitical,” the fact that it finds the event contrary to its values is a head-scratcher.
It would be wonderful to know what part of Rittenhouse’s bio on the “Rally Against Censorship” event website offends the Southern Star:
Rittenhouse started the media accountability project to hold the media accountable and take them to court for the lies they perpetuate against Americans. Kyle is now fighting for the future of the nation and freedom against a corrupt, broken news media that lied and seemed intent on fueling a race war for ratings. He is also fighting against left-wing political pundits who are happy to see the country fall apart as well as big tech tyrants whose censoring has destroyed the fiber of America.
But being “apolitical,” they are not likely to tell anyone.
Nothing says apolitical like cancelling a first amendment event.

For Rittenhouse, the decision is “disappointing.”
“It’s really disappointing to see that places continue to censor me and not allow my voice and many other voices to be heard because they bend to the woke crowd,” he tweeted Friday. “I’ll keep you guys updated on the event on the 26th that I was supposed to speak at.”
In a separate tweet, the young conservative stated, “I don’t support companies who don’t support the first amendment.”

Also slated to speak was TEXIT founder and president, Daniel Miller, who questioned the Southern Star’s commitment to being “apolitical.”
“I know @SouthernStarBC said they’re apolitical, but they didn’t seem to mind when I packed the house there on the #TEXIT tour with the [Texas National Movement],” he tweeted to Rittenhouse and Defiance Press, organizers of the rally.
“You don’t say,” replied fellow rally speaker, investigative journalist Cassandra Spencer.

Spencer later proudly tweeted that the Southern Star blocked her account.
“This is only second to the time Dave Weigel from WaPo blocked me,” she quipped.

By the looks of things, the Southern Star may have wished they had taken a stand in support of the Constitution.
Judging by many of the comments — and there were so many, the brewery turned off the option to leave one — a whole lot of “people who like beer” will be drinking it elsewhere.
“Initially I had no issue with a company wanting to remain apolitical…I think all businesses should do this,” the popular “Gummi Bear” account remarked. “But adding that ‘this event doesn’t reflect our own values’ means that their motivation is political. Lame.”
And another user suggested the Southern Star should pack up and leave the Lone Star State: “Maybe y’all should just move to California.”
