Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro triggered outrage from Biden groupies on Wednesday by admitting a little-known fact about the administration’s military readiness.
The little-known fact was that the Biden administration is shipping so many weapons to Ukraine that it may soon not have enough weapons left to arm its own military units.
Del Toro made the admission when, while speaking at the Surface Navy Association conference in Arlington, Virginia, he was asked by a reporter for his thoughts on something Adm. Daryl Caudle, the commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command, had said earlier during the same conference, according to Defense One.
The reporter specifically noted that Caudle was worried that “the Navy might get to the point where it has to make the decision whether it needs to arm itself or arm Ukraine.”
Based on this, the reporter then asked, “Has the Navy gotten to that point yet?”

Del Toro replied by warning that if things continue the way they have been, the U.S. may reach that point within as little as six months.
“With regards to deliveries of weapons systems for the fight in Ukraine, yeah, that’s always a concern for us. And we monitor that very, very closely. I wouldn’t say we’re quite there yet, but if the conflict does go on for another six months, for another year, it certainly continues to stress the supply chain in ways that are challenging,” he said.
The remarks triggered immediate outrage, with leftists rushing in to demand he resign for criticizing the apparently infallible Biden administration.
Look (*Liberal profanity warning):
You’re a disgrace! Resign and we’ll #ArmUkraineNow

Thankfully, how much we send to Ukraine is not decided by you, but by @POTUS
Resign!

Have you not noticed that it’s a *land* war? We’re not sending frigates or destroyers or subs or carriers. This seems irresponsible and partisan of you.
— Elliot Lake (@Elliot_Lake) January 11, 2023
I’m sorry, you’re the navy.. shut the fuck up. We’re not sending naval weapons to Ukraine. This announcement was premeditated, coordinated and immature. Keep undercutting the armed forces.. resign

If you have a problem with the administration’s policy it is your job to resign and then voice your objections. Otherwise you make your opinion known quietly during meetings with your superiors and then accept the decision they make. The public insubordination is unbecoming
— John (@JohnJNJ1) January 11, 2023
It’s still not up to you to make those decisions let alone promote them to the media which you should know will be spun a million different ways across the globe
Completely reckless and disrespectful to @POTUS who has enough to deal with, especially this incompetent fuckery— Isabella Ⓥ Globalist (@SkipTheT) January 11, 2023
For some inexplicable reason, the same rage wasn’t directed at Caudle, who technically started it with his original complaints.
Speaking at the conference a bit earlier than Del Toro, he said that the defense industry’s inability to deliver enough weapons “is not only forcing him to ‘rob Peter to pay Paul’ in order to completely arm U.S. carrier strike groups, but that it is a factor in how much aid to send to Ukraine,” as reported by Military.com.
“I am not forgiving of the fact they’re not delivering the ordnance we need,” he said.
As for Del Toro, he eventually responded to the backlash by posting an ostensible clarification to Twitter.
Look:
(1/5) To clarify earlier comments from the Secretary:
“If the conflict does go on for another six months to another year, it certainly continues to stress the supply chain in ways that are challenging.
— Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro (@SECNAV) January 11, 2023
(2/5) The DOD and particularly Kath Hicks has been working very, very closely with industry, to motivate them to find out what their challenges or obstacles are, to be able to increase their own production rates.
— Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro (@SECNAV) January 11, 2023
(3/5) And she has been super focused on this. Along with Bill LaPlante, the undersecretary, they’re starting to make some progress now.
— Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro (@SECNAV) January 11, 2023
(4/5) It’s obvious that these companies have a substantial pipeline for the future. They now need to invest in their people, again, their workforce, as well as the capital investments that they have to make within their own companies to get their production rates up.
— Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro (@SECNAV) January 11, 2023
(5/5) So when that occurs, we’ll be in a better place. How long that takes varies often weapon system to weapon system.”
— Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro (@SECNAV) January 11, 2023
However, the clarification itself was ratioed by more leftists shrieking in rage.
“These comments neither clarify nor justify your statements. Resign,” one such critic pithily tweeted.
