Brian Kilmeade immediately backpedals after calling ‘Never-Kevin’ conservatives ‘insurrectionists’

An awkward moment on Wednesday’s airing of “Fox & Friends” has raised a lot of eyebrows with many confused about co-host Brian Kilmeade’s choice of words.

During a conversation about Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s thus far unsuccessful run for Speaker of the House, Kilmeade interestingly chose to dub the group of conservatives voting against him “insurrectionists.”

“Here’s the thing, if you pick Jim- here’s just how insincere the insurrectionist are- I probably shouldn’t use that word,” Kilmeade said, prompting co-hosts Steve Doocy and Ainsley Earhardt to jump in and suggest he use the word “saboteurs” instead. It’s unclear how such a condemnation is an improvement.

“So if you’re picking [Representative] Jim Jordan, he hasn’t agreed to anything you’ve wanted. At least Kevin McCarthy’s agreed to some things, and didn’t agree to other things,” Kilmeade continued. “But these other people that you’re writing in, McCarthy, whoever you want, Biggs, they haven’t agreed to anything. So you’re willing to take who you think they might be, as opposed to someone you’ve been negotiating with for the past few months.”

The curious use of “insurrectionist” which has been a favorite of the Democrats since the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill prompted social media to weigh in:
