‘Waffle House Wendy’ gives her take on EPIC brawl, says she’s now ‘blacklisted’ by chain

The Waffle House worker who became a social media sensation after viral video of her expertly swatting away a chair thrown at her by an unruly customer at an Austin-area restaurant last year has come forward to tell her side of the story on the epic brawl that she says resulted in her being “blacklisted” from the popular breakfast chain.

In the video which was posted for the first time this week, the female employee is seen keeping her cool as the Waffle House deteriorated into a war zone after a pair of out-of-control customers hurled profanities at the employees with one jumping on the counter and then falling forward and another using the piece of dining room furniture as a potentially deadly projectile as diners scrambled for safety from the early morning melee.

Now, the previously unidentified worker has posted her own video, recounting what went down at the eatery that would eventually lead to her newfound fame, with memes portraying her as a superhero popping up across the internet.

On a newly-created Twitter account under the name Waffle House Wendy, the young woman whose real name is Halie tweeted out a link to a 20-minute video YouTube video of her take on the chaotic scene and her quick reaction in swatting down the chair thrown by one of the assailants.

Speaking of the incident that took place, around last September, she said, “We had one side of the store closed because we were trying to cut down on traffic, we had literally cooked $3,000 that night and I was the only cook with my manager popping in, in and out,” as she recalled the day leading up to the ugly confrontation.

“These six come in, they’re loud, they’re making noise, cool, everybody’s loud, everybody’s drunk, it’s after last call, bars are closed,” she said. “So they sit on a table in the corner that’s closed off, we have a bunch of to-go orders standing up, we have a couple of people sittin’ down, people sittin’ at the bar, you know there’s people everywhere,” as she described the situation in the crowded restaurant.

Halie went on to say that she ignored them to instead focus on other customers who weren’t sitting in a closed-off area and then things took a turn for the worse as one of the women became increasingly belligerent.

“She keeps comin’ up, she starts asking for food,” she said, explaining how she had to work on the tickets that came in first and that other customers were ahead of her.

“‘I just want my food, I’m gonna make that white bitch cook my food,'” she said, explaining how the unruly guests made it about race as the tense situation degenerated to the point where the chair was thrown.

Near the end of the video, Halie says, “I was blacklisted. I can’t ever work for a Waffle House again.”

Twitter users reacted to her take on the incident that made her famous.
