Sharing objective behind ‘Twitter Files’ release, Elon Musk promises ‘more smoking guns’ to come

As the implications of the release of internal Twitter communications proving at last what many long suspected — that Democrats were actively involved in suppressing information and killing Twitter accounts they didn’t like — begin to set in, Elon Musk has promised shell-shocked followers that there are “more smoking guns” to come.

Journalist Matt Taibbi was given access to the damning communications and set social media on fire with his Friday report, with Musk telling Twitter users to “stay tuned” for more.

While Taibbi did not post a second thread on Saturday, Musk spoke live to more than a million users on a Twitter Space event, even staying for more than two hours to take questions, and he made it clear that there’s still a lot of information he intends to make public.

“We’re just gonna put all the information out there try to get a clean slate we will be iteratively better and it will force other media companies to also be more truthful or else they’ll lose their readership,” he stated.

“The intent is to release all the files, so there’s not like that’s anything hidden or anything,” he said.

“Like Nelson Mandella would say, ‘If you want reconciliation, there must be truth,'” he continued. “So that’s the intent here, is to just make it clear what was happening and provide transparency about the past and, in doing so, to build trust about the future.”

Musk acknowledged that he has “not been poring over the Twitter files personally” — that is a task for Taibbi and journalist Bari Weiss — he did say that it looks like there was “a very different standard applied to Republican candidates in the US versus Democrat candidates” on the platform.

“I’m not saying this is definitely the case. There appears to have been a double standard where Democrats were not censored … and Republicans were and it was and I think this is frankly obvious to anyone who uses Twitter,” he revealed. “It’s frankly the behavior that is to be expected from an organization that is that is based in San Francisco which is far left.”

According to Musk, the political contributions from Twitter were more than 99% Democrat.

“Well, what kind of viewpoint would you expect people to have then?” he asked. “It’s the behavior you would expect from a company that is essentially a distillation of San Francisco politics.”

So far, it is Vijaya Gadde, the former head of legal, policy, and trust at Twitter, who is facing the most fallout for her role in covering for the Biden presidential campaign in 2020.

Come January, when Republicans retake control of the House, Gadde is expected to be investigated by the Judiciary Committee.

“We’re tracking Vijaya Gadde’s role in the suppression of the New York Post story on Hunter Biden’s laptop,” a committee spokesperson told The Post on Saturday. “We absolutely plan to investigate this more. Stay tuned.”

Back on Twitter, users — many of whom had their accounts shadow-banned or “purged” by Twitter’s former crew — are cheering.

“This is needed to restore trust to the people,” one user tweeted. “For too long, many have blindly followed parties and their manipulation tactics. Transparency amongst both parties is needed.”

Others are concerned Musk’s life might be in danger as a result of his “transparency.”

“If anything happens to Musk,” wrote one user, “the Twitter world will hold the current administration responsible.”

But for the most part, people are simply grateful to finally have someone “powerful” on the people’s side.

“Elon is the most powerful man not in politics,” one user stated. “I believe he truly loves this Country.”
