‘So, there’s no reaction?’ Even the reporter can’t believe WH’s weak response to China protests

President Joe Biden will not speak for protesters in China who are chanting in support of “freedom.”

During a press briefing with White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby, a reporter asked for Biden’s opinion on protests in China. Unlike past examples where Biden has voiced support for one side or the other, it would appear that he is sitting this one out.

“What is the president’s reaction when he hears protesters in China chant ‘freedom’ or ‘Xi Jinping step down’?” a reporter asked Kirby during the presser.

Watch:

“The president’s not going to speak for protesters,” he responded bluntly.

“So there’s no reaction?” the reporter clarified.

“These protesters are speaking for themselves,” Kirby responded.
