NAACP tells Elon Musk he is ‘failing our democracy’ in letting Twitter-verse decide Trump reinstatement

Donald Trump has yet to post his first tweet on his newly restored Twitter account, and already, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is having a complete meltdown.

Following a Twitter poll in which Elon Musk asked users if the former President’s account, which has been suspended since January 2021, should be unlocked, the Chief Twit declared, “Vox Populi, Vox Dei.”: “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”

“The people have spoken,” Musk proclaimed. “Trump will be reinstated.”

Moments later, President Trump’s tweets were available for all to read, like, and share.

In the end, with more than 15 million votes and by a margin of 51.8% to 48.2%, the Twitterverse chose free speech.

It was, by every definition, “democracy” playing out in real time — an up or down vote, with the majority making the rules.

Unless you’re Derrick Johnson, the president of the NAACP.

If you’re Derrick Johnson, majority rule is suddenly democracy dying, and straightforward polls that allow the people to voice their opinions are “garbage.”

“You are failing our democracy,” Johnson tweeted. “Your garbage poll means nothing. Did people outside the US vote? Did you reach out to marginalized communities—the targets of Trump’s rhetoric—for their input?”

“Your followers don’t represent America,” Johnson fumed. “If you run Twitter like this, God help us all.”

Johnson then attempted to recruit allies to strangle Twitter’s ability to turn a profit, because nothing says “democracy” like placing a corporate boot on the neck of your rivals.

“Any advertiser still funding Twitter should immediately pause all advertising now,” he ranted.

And just in case Johnson didn’t make his organization’s stance on free speech crystal clear, he issued a statement to the liberal Huffington Post, which was quickly shared by Phillip Lewis.

“In Elon Musk’s Twittersphere, you can incite an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, which led to the deaths of multiple people, and still be allowed to spew hate speech and violent conspiracies on his platform,” the statement read. “Any advertisers still funding Twitter should immediately pause all advertising.”

“If Elon Musk continues to run Twitter like this, using garbage polls that do not represent the American people and the needs of our democracy, God help us all,” it cried.

Of course, now that Trump’s account is unlocked, it’s really easy to counter the NAACP with tweets like this:

And this:

And videos like this:

All of which must make Johnson really grumpy.

And if those didn’t do it, reactions to his outburst likely did.

“If marginalized people had a say it wouldn’t be democracy—rule by majority,” an astute user noted.

“I saw the poll in Kenya and voted for reinstatement of Trump’s account,” replied another. “Why do you hate free speech?”

“And yes, people outside the US voted,” stated a third. “I (Mexican) voted in favor.”

Meanwhile, Elon Musk revealed that the monumental poll served purposes other than triggering leftists.

“Server load is insane rn [right now],” he tweeted, as his poll racked up nearly a million votes an hour. “Good stress test before World Cup tomorrow!”

The World Cup will be aired on Twitter on Sunday, where Musk promises the “best coverage.”

But there was an even deeper purpose driving the poll.

In a move that proves he is a 5-D chess master, Musk used Donald Trump to draw out the bots he has vowed to remove from Twitter.

“Trump Poll was a bot trap!” exclaimed Buzz Patterson. “I love this guy!”

And with a single emoji, Musk dropped the mic on the matter.
