Steve Hilton says Dems will use midterm blue wall to ‘green light’ their radical agenda… and that’s ok

As their paltry majority in the House and deadlock in the Senate had been treated as a mandate by Democrats following the 2020 presidential election, so too did Fox News’ Steve Hilton expect them to view majority losses as a “green light” for their “far-left, extremist agenda,” and that’s ok.

Whether or not the host of “The Next Revolution” was looking for a silver lining when he joined Trace Gallagher after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, Hilton appeared to land on one when he knocked “too much pessimism about what, looks like, has happened.”

After Gallagher had asked for his overall take on the results as they were coming in,” the conservative commentator found that, “Apart from what we were gonna see in terms of the legislative agenda in Congress and the investigations, I think the big point for me is that the Democrats–and you can already see it in the way they’re reacting–they are gonna take this as a green light to keep going with their far-left, extremist agenda.”

“They’re gonna say, ‘we don’t need to evaluate whether we’ve lost touch with the mainstream on issues like crime and climate’ and so. They’re not gonna have that. They’re gonna say ‘full steam ahead’ with this far-left agenda,” he added.

In addition to that, Hilton expressed, “I think the polling and also the messaging that was coming from the campaigns, and I think looking at the results as they have come in tonight and the commentary about what’s happening–I think that early on in the days running up to today, perhaps there was too much optimism about what the Republicans were gonna achieve. Now I think I’m seeing too much pessimism about what, looks like, has happened.”

“I mean, it looks like there will be a House majority. We don’t know the size. We know it’s not gonna be as big as many people wanted,” he reasoned, “but what does that mean? It means that the legislative agenda that many people in this country have experienced in a destructive manner–we don’t need to go through all the issues–but that’s dead in the water. That’s it.”

Furthermore, Hilton reminded that a Republican majority meant control of legislative committees and that means, “we can have the investigations that so many people have been demanding, to get accountability for the failures of the pandemic, the origins of the pandemic, corruption of the Biden family–all these things now can happen.”

Even breaking down the losses that the GOP had suffered, the Fox News host found the margins were indicative of a surging conservative movement away from the destructive progressive policies.

“Lee Zeldin didn’t win in New York but the latest number there I saw…he’s around five percent behind. That’s incredible result in a state like New York to close the gap so much,” he contended. “A lot of this change that I think people want to see, you’re not gonna get it in one go. Same with Oregon where the governor’s race there, even closer. So I think there are many things to be optimistic about. You oughta be realistic as well but I think that we shouldn’t lurch from being overly optimistic to overly pessimistic.”

Ultimately, Hilton suggested that Democrats’ further embrace of their far-left policies would help the GOP in the next cycle since a distinction can be drawn without necessarily incurring further damage from approval-starved President Joe Biden.

“In the long term, I think that helps Republicans as does the other implication which is that, it seems like Biden 2024 is much more likely tonight after this,” he concluded. “And in the end, I think that also helps GOP.”
