Fox News contributor and constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley torched Democrats and the media on Sunday concerning their doomsday rhetoric decrying the end of democracy if Republicans sweep the midterm elections Tuesday.

Turley appeared on “Fox & Friends Weekend” and shredded hyperbolic remarks from a number of Democrat politicians and media outlets that went way over the edge positing that American children could be arrested and conceivably killed if Republicans are elected. He called it “grotesque.”
NBC historian Michael Beschloss made the outrageous claims that incensed Turley, “A historian will say what was next date tonight and this week was the fact whether we will be a democracy in the future, whether our children will be arrested and conceivably killed.”
“It is not justified. It is grotesque. It is deeply offensive for anyone who is familiar with our constitutional system. We have the most successful constitutional system in the history of the world,” Turley began.
“I mean, this is a system that has weathered every challenge. It is a constitution that was written for the worst of times, not the best of times. James Madison crafted this Constitution so we didn’t have to rely on the good motivations of our leaders that we had a system – checks and balances. It has weathered every storm, and that’s why this is so unsettling, this sort of crisis of faith. And it is coming from our leaders and our leading pundits, trying to tell American citizens that our constitutional system is about to collapse,” he asserted.

“It’s really alarming, particularly when they cite January 6,” Turley continued. “The system worked on January 6. Everything was carried out according to the Constitution by the officials in charge. The courts ruled against former President Trump, including many of his own appointees.”
“Now you can debate the merits back and forth about that election, but the system itself did not even skip a beat. It worked exactly the way it was intended. And that is the reason this borders on a type of defamation. You know, I’m OK with politicians doing hyperbole and reckless rhetoric but leave our Constitution out of it. It is the one functioning, working, moving part that we have despite the efforts of our leaders,” he remarked.
Turley wrote a piece for The Hill that was published on Saturday that took extreme umbrage with the way the left is framing the potential massive win by Republicans on Tuesday that could take back both the House and the Senate.

“Whereas the media once pushed a false Russia collusion claim in the 2016 election, this time it is pushing a claim that the GOP itself represents the threat to our liberties and very lives,” he wrote.
“The Democratic campaign against GOP candidates as extremists and election deniers is breathtakingly dishonest. Democratic leaders like Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), have been accused of deceptive practices in spending tens of millions to support the most conservative candidates in Republican primaries. Those candidates — now denounced by Democrats as ‘extremists’ — prevailed in their primaries with the Democrats’ support and could now win in states like New Hampshire,” Turley commented.

The law professor and constitutionalist notes that Democrats are engaging in the same sort of rhetoric and actions they are persecuting and prosecuting Republicans for.
“At the same time, Democrats and the House’s Jan. 6 select committee are pursuing those who engaged in similarly inflammatory rhetoric leading up to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot — just as the airways are filled with Trump-like warnings that the midterm elections are about to be “stolen.” Likewise, just as some on the left claim there may be no more real history books after the midterms, others are campaigning to ban books by figures like Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett in the name of protecting free speech,” he pointed out.
“The Democrats’ democracy-or-death mantra is not just demagoguery. It is defamation of a constitutional system that has proven itself, time and again, to be up to any challenge. Democrats indeed may be in danger in this midterm — but democracy is not,” Turley concluded.
