Elected OH Dem slams his party’s choice, says ‘fraud’ Tim Ryan ‘doesn’t deserve your vote’ over JD Vance

Although he describes himself as a “proud, lifelong Democrat,” Hamilton County, Ohio Auditor Dusty Rhodes says he will in no way vote for Tim Ryan, a fellow Democrat and U.S House representative for Ohio who is seeking election to the U.S. Senate. Instead, Rhodes says he’ll be voting for Republican J.D. Vance because he believes Ryan is a “fraud” who doesn’t deserve the vote of any Ohioan.

Rhodes penned an op-ed for the Cincinnati Enquirer on Friday in which he laid out the case against electing Ryan.

“I’m a proud, lifelong Democrat, and it’s my honor to serve the people of Ohio in elected office. It’s because I love my state so much that I’m sounding the alarm about my own party’s nominee for U.S. Senate,” the op-ed reads. “Tim Ryan is a fraud who must be defeated. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Republican, an independent or a Democrat like me − Ryan does not deserve your vote,” Rhodes began.

Rhodes writes that although Ryan claims to be a moderate who stands against the more radical element of his party, his voting record doesn’t reflect that claim.

“I should be a Tim Ryan voter. He says he stands up to our own party’s radicals in D.C. He claims he isn’t beholden to Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi. He’d like us to believe he doesn’t fight the culture wars that are endangering Ohio’s kids. This would all be great, if it were true.”

“But I won’t be fooled, and neither should you. The narrative Ryan has built around himself is nothing more than shameless deception from a career politician desperate to cling to power.”

Rhodes went on to list a number of issues on which he says Ryan has grossly misrepresented himself.

“Ryan can run all the slick TV commercials he wants, but he can’t hide from his own record. He’s called for a ban on gas-powered cars, forcing you to buy an electric vehicle, even if you don’t want to. He pledged to free a million criminals from our nation’s prisons and to shred the bail system that keeps dangerous offenders off of our streets. He rubber-stamped trillions of dollars of big government spending, wasting money we don’t have on pet projects we don’t need. He’d even vote to end the Senate filibuster, empowering leftists from New York and California to impose their will on the rest of us.”

And Rhodes called out Ryan’s hypocrisy on the issue of abortion as well.

“Ryan once called himself a pro-life Democrat. But he has since voted to legalize nationwide abortion on demand at any point in a pregnancy, up until the moment of birth. Ryan and his fellow congressional Democrats even blocked efforts that would have required doctors to deliver life-saving care to delivered babies who survive botched abortions. None of this is “moderate.” It’s far more radical than Roe v. Wade, and goes far further than abortion laws in Europe. Ryan’s barbaric abortion regime would align us with the likes of China and North Korea − and he wants your taxpayer dollars to fund it all.”

At a recent debate between the two Senate candidates, Vance laid into Ryan after he was accused by Ryan of peddling in Great Replacement Theory, which Vance roundly rejected.

“Here’s exactly what happens when the media and people like Tim Ryan accuse me of engaging in the Great Replacement Theory,” Vance countered. “What happens is my own children, my biracial children, get attacked by scumbags online and in person because you are so desperate for political power that you’ll accuse me, the father of three beautiful biracial babies, of engaging in racism. We are sick of it.”

“You can believe in the border without being a racist. I know you’ve been in office for 20 years, Tim, and I know it’s a sweet gig, but you’re so desperate not to have a real job that you’ll slander me and slander my family. It’s disgraceful,” Vance told Ryan.

Ryan currently represents Ohio’s 13th Congressional District in the House, and he us hoping to take the seat of retiring Republican Sen. Rob Portman once the midterm election votes are tallied (which will in many cases likely take a lot more time than is necessary.) Rhodes is encouraging Ohio voters aligned with any party to cast their ballot for Vance.

“Tim Ryan stands for one thing, and it isn’t our state. It’s his own political ambition,” Rhodes declared.

“In just a few days, I, an elected Democrat, will eagerly vote to make J.D. Vance our next U.S. Senator.”

“Vance is an American success story. A son of Middletown, he overcame a tough upbringing, served our nation as a United States Marine, earned degrees from Ohio State and Yale, and created hundreds of jobs right here in Ohio.”

He concluded, “Vance is exactly the kind of man who should serve the Buckeye State in the Senate. I hope you’ll join me in voting for him on Nov. 8.”
