MSNBC host Joy Reid ridiculously claimed that Republicans “have taught people the word inflation” and accused them of using it for political gain, ostensibly turning it into a campaign issue to be used against Democrats.

She claimed that she had never heard everyday people use the word “inflation” until Republicans weaponized it.
Reid was a guest on “Deadline: White House” Thursday and once again charged that Republicans were, in effect, gaslighting Americans over inflation. She was asked by host Nicolle Wallace how the forefront issues of crime and inflation were influencing races in Florida where Reid was broadcasting from.
“The only people I ever hear use the word ‘inflation’ are journalists and economists,” she remarked, falsely intimating that normal Americans simply don’t care about inflation. “So, that is not part of the normal lexicon of the way people talk.”
Inflation is now at a 40-year-high, hitting 8.2 percent in September. There is no relief in sight and many are now saying we are in a recession and on the verge of a depression. Americans across the board care about inflation and are certainly familiar with the term because it is hammering them at home. They can’t afford gas to get to work, food for the table, a roof over their heads, or clothes to put on their backs.
But instead of putting the blame where it belongs, on President Joe Biden and the Democrats, Reid blamed Republican messaging for making “inflation” a household word.
“So, it’s interesting that Republicans are doing something they don’t normally do, which is not use the common tongue, not use just common English like they sort of do on their campaigns like they do with crime,” she said mangling “common English.”
“But what they’ve done is they’ve taught people the word inflation. Most people who would’ve never used that word ever in their lives are using it now because they’ve been taught it, including on TV, including in newspapers. They’ve been taught this word,” Reid declared, outrageously insinuating that Americans are just too stupid to know what inflation is and how it is impacting them.

They learned about if from Democratic policies that has made everything more expensive.

I learned the word inflation from my parents. When Carter was president. That’s why they never voted D and it’s why I have never voted D.

Then she stated that Florida “has become a very expensive state,” especially when it comes to housing. Again, she does not link it to Democratic policies that have driven costs into the stratosphere with uncontrolled spending.
“It’s now more expensive to buy in Miami than it is in New York,” she noted, despite the fact that her claim is apparently false according to “best places” which reports that housing in New York City costs 106.2% more for a homeowner than in Miami. But Reid never lets actual facts get in the way of being partisan.
“It is extremely expensive. So lots of people here, you hear lots of complaints about the cost of rent, the cost of insurance, the inability to get insurance at all. It’s a huge crisis in this state,” Reid continued.

“But the people I hear talk about that… they’re not voting Republican. These are people who are African-American, young people, people who are Democrats. And so they’re not saying because it’s hard and expensive to live here, I’m now going to vote for DeSantis,” the leftist talking head railed.
“The kind of people you hear down here saying they like DeSantis… it’s not about inflation. It’s about the fact he didn’t close the state during COVID. That is probably the strongest issue for him. That he let COVID run wild here and, you know, let students and businesses go back to school and open up and not have math and he was very, you know, definitive on not wanting to stop COVID at all. And had this very open and unrestrictive policy,” Reid ranted making it unsurprisingly evident that she has no idea what she is talking about.
