Lame duck Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wy) will not answer directly former President Donald Trump’s apparent request to have his Nov 14 deposition televised.
The treacherous congresswoman is committed to hating former President Donald Trump. She continues in that visceral hatred from a position that is designed to represent him – one of two Republican seats on a representative committee – despite having been thoroughly repudiated in the polls, losing by a record 40% of the vote in Wyoming’s August primary. She deigns to speak for Republicans, but Republicans despise her and have rejected her.
As co-chair of the January 6 committee, Cheney subpoenaed Trump to testify in a deposition before the committee.
The former president received the subpoena on Friday – a 10-page letter from the committee that lays out the “overwhelming evidence” that he “personally orchestrated and oversaw a multi-part effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election.”
But Cheney appears not to have the guts to let the proceeding be televised.
WATCH: The Jan. 6 committee will not allow fmr. President Trump to turn his testimony into a “circus,” says @RepLizCheney (R-Wyo.)
“This isn’t going to be his first debate against Joe Biden … and the food fight that that became. This is a far too serious set of issues.” pic.twitter.com/3bUyUFVf9m

“Meet the Press” host and Political Director for NBC, Chuck Todd, asked Cheney, “Is the committee open to his supposed offer…of going on live, uh, television?”
“So the committee treats this matter with great seriousness. And we are going to proceed in terms of the questioning of the former president under oath. It may take multiple days.” Cheney began.
Then came the indication that she doesn’t want it to be televised.
“And it will be done with a level of rigor and discipline and seriousness that it deserves. We are not going to allow the former president…he’s not going to turn this into a circus,” Cheney said.
A televised deposition – the essence of transparency – would be a circus, in the estimation of the committee co-chair.
“This isn’t going to be, you know, his first debate against Joe Biden and the circus and the food fight that that became. This is a far too serious set of issues,” said the far too unserious person.
“And we’ve made clear exactly what his obligations are,” she added officiously, “and we are proceeding with that set out.”
How ironic for Liz Cheney to say that she won’t let Donald Trump turn his deposition into a circus. No one needs to turn the Jan 6 hearings into a circus. You can’t turn something into what it already is.
Last night, Brit Hume tweeted his response to Cheney’s circus comment:
Says the ringmaster. https://t.co/uj0QlWAQv1

Another user said it well:
Oh she made it a circus just fine without him.
Millions were denied representation on this “committee”. The voters in Wyoming clearly understood this and what their true intent is. Protip: it has nothing to do with Democracy.

This committee clearly believes unanimously that Donald Trump does not deserve representation. Cheney and her fellow traveler Adam Kinzinger hate Trump as much as any of the 7 Democrats on the panel.
The former president knows this all too well. In seeking some tiny advantage, he suggests televising the deposition.
The New York Times quotes a source that says Trump will testify if it’s on live TV like the series of eight hearings the committee held over the summer.
If this request smells to committee members like something that could help their enemy, they most certainly won’t allow it.
Asked what the Justice Department could charge Trump with, Cheney couldn’t answer the question directly.
“Look, I think that there are multiple criminal offenses. I don’t want to get in front of the committee, but that we are looking at,” she said.
She sounds exactly like Rep. Adam Schiff, always pointing with bold, unsubstantiated claims of Trump crimes for which there is no real evidence.
The committee also wants Trump to turn over key records and communications dated between November 3, 2020, and the day of the Capitol attack.
The committee’s letter suggests that Trump used the Signal app to send encrypted messages in internal discussions about how to fundraise off of his election fraud claims and challenging ballot counts in key states.
On MSNBC’s “The Sunday Show,” venomous House Speaker Nancy Pelosi taunted and condescended, “I don’t think he’s man enough to show up.”
