Megyn Kelly says husband having one-night-stand better than a ‘sit and cry’ with another woman in revealing talk

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

Megyn Kelly, once of Fox News fame, told her podcast guest, Gad Saad, that she would rather her husband have sex with another woman than “sit and cry” with her.

The topic was broached pursuant to the Page Six exclusive that came out on Tuesday claiming that NFL quarterback Tom Brady and his supermodel wife, Gisele Bündchen have hired divorce lawyers. The supposed predicate for the rumored split was Brady’s decision to return for another season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after retiring.

Kelly’s guest, a Canadian professor and marketing expert, was reticent to weigh in since the whole topic was so speculative. But he was willing to say that “statistically speaking, [Brady returning to football] seems to be an unlikely reason they would have broken up.”

Saad said that from the perspective of “evolutionary psychology,” women “get more triggered and more angry and more jealous by emotional infidelity rather than sexual infidelity.”

“It doesn’t mean that they’re happy if their man sleeps around with other women,” Saad added. “But if he develops an emotional, platonic bond with another woman … that might actually be a greater precursor of them splitting because emotional infidelity is the greatest threat to a woman’s interest.”

This resonates with what many husbands observe about their wives. Most married people know that wives crave the emotional attention of their husbands a lot more than sex. So, they can get over a sexual dalliance much more easily than a bond. Women know all too well that it really can be just about sex for a man.

“I can see that,” Kelly responded. “I’m thinking about my own husband — I’d much rather he have a one-night stand with a woman than sit and cry with her.”

“When a man cheats on a woman, it’s not quite the same thing,” said Saad.

Right. It is almost never just sex for a woman. Behind a woman’s affair, one can almost always find an emotional deficit in the marriage. So, for her, sex is a package deal with the love she’s getting from the adulterer that she wasn’t getting from her husband. But it’s the sex part that troubles the man.

The SiriusXM “Megyn Kelly Show” host is married to Doug Brunt, a former cybersecurity CEO and author of three books. Married since 2008, Megyn and Doug have three children. She might have been able to identify with the super-couple to some degree, since she is an object of desire and her husband looks like a GQ model.

Kelly theorized that Brady and Bündchen were behind the eight ball from the start, since they have had “two of the biggest careers on Earth.”

“Some would say it’s no accident that it’s going to end because two careers that big and two personalities that big — it’s tough to stay together long-term,” she added.

According to Saad, the top two reasons couples split are “financial conflict” and “infidelity.” Of the two, he says that “Infidelity is much more of a death blow [to the relationship] if a woman cheats on a man than vice versa — not because of the patriarchy but because when a woman cheats on a guy, it triggers paternity uncertainty from an evolutionary perspective.”

That’s a pretty high-minded analysis. Is it really about paternity and evolution? Don’t men just hate the idea of their woman giving her body to another man? Already dealing with the nagging matter of not being satisfied as often as he’d like to be, a man finds out someone else is having her. The very idea almost invariably triggers violent or even homicidal thoughts. A terrible impulse, he’s gotta know who it is. He finds out and then imagines them naked together. It is more than a betrayal; it is a worm in the mind that won’t die. That’s not psychology – it’s reality.

Referring also to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Kelly and Saad decided that Hollywood glamour couples don’t have it any easier than non-celebrities. Many would argue it is harder for them. They know that if something happens in their relationship, everyone is likely to find out. The world will be talking about it. How awful would that be?

It’s not good for the rest of us, either, since Hollywood is all too ready to report on it. The fact is, it would be better not to air out the dirty laundry of celebrities. Sin lingers in the wings for all of us, awaiting opportunity, like a serpent waiting to strike. Celebrity gossip starts us on a path of unhealthy thoughts, and it brings out the worst in us – at a high cost to the glamorous people who have hearts and lives and are made in the image of God.

If that is too spiritual, then listen to Brady’s fellow quarterback, Robert Griffin III:

Let’s cut to the chase. A lot of women would like to comfort Tom Brady in his time of need and fantasize about hearing him whisper “I love you.” He is extremely attractive, extremely wealthy, and he comes off as very sincere. So, talk of divorce sets a discontented woman’s mind to wandering.

And then there is what is in the mind of a typical man. If Gisele would give you the time of day, you’d try to find a way to have sex with her. This is the subtext of such gossip.

Then Megyn Kelly says something about her husband sleeping with another woman, which only encourages men to fantasize about her.
