DOJ accuses Trump of ‘hoarding’ even more docs, NYT reports

A top Justice Department official reportedly told former President Trump’s attorneys in a thinly veiled threat that they believe he hasn’t returned all the documents he allegedly took from the White House.

Following the thuggish raid on the former president’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida in August, when the FBI seized thousands of documents they claimed were classified or top secret as well as personal items, the Department of Justice apparently isn’t satisfied with its political pound of flesh.

The New York Times is citing “two people briefed on the matter.”

“The outreach from the official, Jay I. Bratt, who leads the department’s counterintelligence operations, is the most concrete indication yet that investigators remain skeptical that Mr. Trump has been fully cooperative in their efforts to recover documents the former president was supposed to have turned over to the National Archives at the end of his term,” the New York Times reported.

According to the leftist media outlet, the Justice Department has not revealed any “next steps” that it may take to retrieve more documents that they think Trump still has in his possession. That comes across as a threat to the former president and highlights the possibility they may raid his other properties.

Many in America no longer trust the DOJ or the FBI who are contending that they seized some “40 empty folders that said they contained sensitive documents that should be returned ‘to staff secretary/military aide.’” There is no way of knowing if there were ever any documents in those folders or if there were, exactly who removed them. But the DOJ is gunning for another witch hunt to go after them whether they exist or not, evidently.

The New York Times is also claiming that 11 more folders marked as “top secret” were found in a storage room on Trump’s property. Again it’s “he said, she said” and there is no definitive proof of any of this, just a lot of finger-pointing in what appears to be a desperate attempt to stop the former president from running in 2024.

“And it is not known whether the Justice Department has gathered new evidence that Mr. Trump has held onto government material even after the court-authorized search in August of his private club and residence in Florida, Mar-a-Lago, and 18 months of previous efforts by the federal government to convince the former president to return what he had taken on leaving office,” the Old Gray Lady reported.

“Justice Department officials and representatives of Mr. Trump have held a number of discussions in recent weeks. After the call from Mr. Bratt, who has led the Justice Department’s investigation into Mr. Trump’s handling of the documents, Mr. Trump initially agreed to go along with the advice of one of his lawyers, Christopher M. Kise, who suggested hiring a forensic firm to search for additional documents, according to the people briefed on the matter,” the New York Times continued in its report.

“But other lawyers in Mr. Trump’s circle — who have argued for taking a more adversarial posture in dealing with the Justice Department — disagreed with Mr. Kise’s approach. They talked Mr. Trump out of the idea and have encouraged him to maintain an aggressive stance toward the authorities, according to a person familiar with the matter,” the outlet added.

Once again using unnamed sources, the New York Times is painting a picture of the Trump camp in disarray which many highly doubt is true or accurate.

According to the Wall Street Journal, “The National Archives and Records Administration told Congress late last month that it hadn’t recovered all of the presidential records that were supposed to be turned over, adding that there was ‘no easy way to establish absolute accountability.'”

Trump’s spokesman, Taylor Budowich, noted in a statement that a “weaponized Department of Justice and the politicized FBI are spending millions and millions of American tax dollars to perpetuate witch hunt after witch hunt.”
