LA Rams linebacker absolutely FLATTENS protester who ran on field

Heads up to future protesters: If you’re looking for a place to spread your message, a field full of people who get paid to knock each other over is probably not the place.

During Monday night’s game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, California, a man with a pink flare decided to run across the field during the second quarter.

He may have gotten away with it if he hadn’t approached the Rams’ sideline. Upon seeing that security was having no luck catching the guy, linebacker Bobby Wagner rushed in to do what he does best: Put people on the ground.

Watch:

The Rams player who is seen running beside Wagner is Takkarist McKinley, a fellow linebacker.

Here is another angle from slightly closer to the action:

Direct Action Everywhere, a group of activists working to “achieve revolutionary social and political change for animals in one generation,” is reportedly taking credit, and is trying to raise awareness for the Smithfield trial which began on Monday.

The man who was tackled appears to be Alex Taylor. He and a fellow activist, Allison Fluty, were cited for their antics.

In a statement to ESPN after the game, Wagner explained that he was simply trying to keep people safe when he tackled the protester.

“That’s not making a play. That’s just keeping it safe. You don’t know what that fan got or what they’re doing. You see it all the time, and we don’t know what they’re carrying in their pockets. It’s whatever that little smoke stuff is, but that s— could be dangerous,” he explained. “One of the guys on the other side, it looked like he got hurt, and security looked like he was struggling, so I was frustrated, so I took it out on him.”

Social media chimed in with their thoughts on the video:
