Socialist diva Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez added yet another bizarre claim to her greatest hits, claiming that abortion is an economic issue because women being forced to care for an unwanted child are “conscripted” into a lifetime of work that deprives them of autonomy.
The childless New York City congresswoman’s wild assertion came on Thursday during a House hearing called by Democrats to grandstand on abortion less than six weeks before the midterm elections.
“Abortion is an economic issue,” proclaimed the New York Democrat.
“Forcing poor and working-class people to give birth, against their will, against their consent, against their ability to provide for themselves or a child is a profound economic issue,” she said. “And it’s certainly a way to keep a workforce, basically, conscripted to large scale employers and to employers to be — to work more against their will, to take second and third jobs against their desire and their own autonomy.”
Of course, AOC didn’t mention less extreme options such as taking personal responsibility and using birth control but the abortion zealots never do.
“And so the idea that abortion and access to abortion is somehow not a profound and central economic and class issue and class struggle is certainly something that I think a person who’s never had to contend with the ability to carry a child, you know, it belies that perspective and it’s disappointing to see,” Ocasio-Cortez added.
She expounded upon her economic, moral, and social theories to take a shot at those who don’t accept the propaganda of her party and genuflect at the altar of progressive wokeness.
“But secondly, I think another thing that I’d like to address is that the same folks who tell, who tell us and told us that covid…covid’s just a flu, that climate change isn’t real, that January 6th was nothing but a tourist visit, are the same, are now trying to tell us that transgender people are not real,” she said in a shout out to the very, very special minuscule but very noisy demographic that is currently at the top of the left’s victimhood pyramid.
The reviews of the congressional drama queen’s latest performance poured in.
Absurd argument when corporations are literally funding abortion travel instead of prenatal care and family leave.

They literally gave their consent when they chose to have unprotected sex and/or did not use birth control. Average price of one condom does not break the bank.
As for being "conscripted" into a work force, have you bothered to look at unemployment figures lately? @AOC https://t.co/aTsdXy0f4B— SUNSER (@ValUnser) September 29, 2022
AOC might want to ask why corporations pay for abortions but not for adoption

This may be the most evil thing I’ve ever heard.
She just twisted the incredible gift of motherhood into “conscripted work for large scale employers”.
Motherhood is a gift. Full stop.

Keep those women ‘conscripted’ as work slaves for their corporation by getting a quick abortion instead being on maternity leave. Does she ever make sense?

I guess we’ll see if America values abortion over their economic heath, their 401Ks, the price of gas, inflation, being in a recession, two million illegal aliens walking into America demanding we support them and a crime rate that is beyond belief. I suspect not.

Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks only further illustrate how the Democrats have literally bet the House on abortion.
